When we click in image, it should show biggest size first

Hi,

When we click in image, it show smallest size first then we have to click in the "+" button.

Because I need to see many photos, so every photos I click in now, I need to click the "+".

Not sure why, even after clicking the "+" button, the resolution seems to be smaller than before.

I think it's better to show biggest size first, and then we click "-" if we want to make it smaller.

Possible Solutions:

  1. Use Full-Size Images by Default

    • Instead of showing a thumbnail, you can adjust the image column settings:
      • Go to DataColumns.
      • Find your Image column.
      • Change the Display Mode to show a larger image.
  2. Use an Image Gallery View

    • If you’re using a Detail View, images may be restricted in size. Try switching to a Gallery View.
      • Go to UXViews.
      • Create a new Gallery View and select your image column.
  3. Enable "Fit to Screen"

    • If you’re using an Image Column, check whether "Fit to screen" is enabled.
    • If not, AppSheet may be displaying a smaller preview.
  4. Custom Action Button to Expand

    • If there is no setting to default to the full image, you can create an Action Button to open the image in full size.

@kvngo94  Try this method out

Method 1: Change Image Display Settings

  1. Go to AppSheet Editor

    • Open your AppSheet app.
    • Click on "Data" > "Columns".
  2. Select Your Image Column

    • Find the column that contains the images (e.g., ProductImage or ItemPhoto).
    • Click on it to open settings.
  3. Change the Display Mode

    • Look for "Column Type" and ensure it is set to Image, not Thumbnail.
    • Scroll down to "Display" section and check the following:
      • Image Display Mode → Set to Full Image or Fit.
      • Is a Thumbnail? → Set to OFF (Unchecked).
  4. Save & Test

    • Click "Save".
    • Go to the app preview and click an image. It should now open in a larger view.

There is alot of method to achieve what you want

@kvngo94

This guide will help you configure AppSheet to show the biggest image size first instead of requiring a click on the "+" button.

Step 1: Open Your App in AppSheet

  1. Go to AppSheet and log into your account.
  2. Select the app where you want to change the image display settings.

Step 2: Navigate to the Image Column Settings

  1. In the AppSheet editor, click on "Data" from the left panel.
  2. Click on "Columns" to see all the columns in your table.
  3. Locate the column that stores your images (e.g., ProductImage or ItemPhoto).
  4. Click on that column to edit its settings.

Step 3: Change the Image Display Settings

  1. Under Column Type, ensure the type is set to Image, not Thumbnail.
  2. Scroll down to the "Display" section and update the following:
    • Image Display Mode → Set to Full Image or Fit.
    • Is a Thumbnail? → Uncheck (turn it OFF).

Step 4: Save Your Changes

  1. Click the "Save" button at the top right.
  2. Click "Regenerate Structure" (if prompted) to apply changes to your database.

Step 5: Test in the App Preview

  1. Go to "UX" → "Views".
  2. Select the view where images appear (e.g., "Detail View" or "Gallery View").
  3. Open the app preview (or use the AppSheet mobile app).
  4. Click an image – it should now display at its full size immediately!

Final Check

If the image is still small, ensure:

  • You are using a Detail View (Table View may limit image size).
  • The images uploaded are in high resolution (check file quality).
  • AppSheet is not forcing a thumbnail in your UX settings.

Now your app should open images in full size automatically.  Let me know if you need any further help

I think this might be a bug? I have honestly never noticed those magnify glasses until today, and users are saying they have lost the ability to zoom in or out where they were able to before. I do know you can modify the Image upload size under "Settings" --> Views --> General --> Inputs. You may check to see if they are being uploaded as Full size, and not one of the other options.

Seeing this as a bug since yesterday as well. Images are at the appropriate resolution in GDrive when stored, but do not load at their native resolution when clicked. The zoom-in/out buttons also functions inconsistently. On mobile (iOS) this seems to be functioning as expected though.

@JMPeterson
the same image in a row, in a Detail view, if it's set as Main Image (the image column to show at the top of each side), then it has issue, if not, it's fine.
