Question: Cost Implications of Setting Up an Organizational-Level BigQuery Audit Log Sink

I need some assistance in understanding the costs related to setting up an organizational-level audit log sink in BigQuery, specifically for BigQuery Audit logs with BigQuery serving as the destination. Beyond the storage fees in BigQuery, are there any other expenses I should be aware of when using the audit log sink? I have looked through the pricing documentation, but it's not clear if it covers the costs for using the sink. Can anyone help clarify this for me? Thanks in advance!

Hi @ylee1212

Thank you for reaching out to our community for clarifications.

As I understand our documentation, usage of audit log sinks doesn't incur cost as long as you adhere to its free or default storage and retention allotment per month.

Note: If you route copies of logs that are automatically stored in the _Required bucket to another log bucket, then storage and retention pricing applies.

Refer to this Routing and storage overview document to understand how routing works and how the routed logs will relate to BigQuery pricing.

Hope this helps.
