Hi, i joined gcp using my institution account, which was based on gmail
My institution moved from gmail to hotmail
I am now unable to access my gcp account any longer.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

OKay, so basically case is as follow:
Google Cloud IAM is relying either on GMAIL accounts ( <PII removed by staff>) or Cloud Identity ( Google Workspace ) ( <PII removed by staff>= dedicated domain damian.com). There is no other possibility to assign IAM permissions. My advice is to ask your Administrator, about possibility to obtain old account to be able to change owners at your private Google Cloud projects. If you need more clarification, I;ll try to explain this more deeply 🙂

Hello
If you've deleted your Gmail account and can no longer access Google Cloud, it’s likely that your Google Cloud account was tied to that Gmail. To regain access, attempt to recover your Gmail through Google’s recovery tools. If that fails, reach out to Google Cloud support for guidance on regaining control or transferring account ownership.
Hello @Colman ,Welcome on Google Cloud Community.
well, basically it's intended behavior. You can deal with Google Cloud and IAM by using either account with @gmail.com domain or with Google Workspace domain ( in example @damian.com ) . If your institution changed your email provider to hotmail in this case, you will be no longer able to use hotmail account on Google Cloud. So my questions are:
1. Is this your PRIVATE Google Cloud ? Or Google Cloud Org created by anyone who will be able to verify your account?
2. What do you mean by saying "based on gmail" Does your account ended with @gmail.com ? Or your email has been associated with Google Workspace and domain ? ( From your description I;m assuming that it was some kind of Workspace there)

Dear @DamianS , Thank you for your reply.
It is my Private Google Cloud. I just happened to use my student account to register. The billing account belonged to a 3rd person and this 3rd person could verify the billing detail was his.
I think it is associated with Google Workspace or domain, as my institutional email remained the same, @life.institution . I mean "based on gmail" because before the transition i can login from the gmail page just like other gmail account.
Hope these details would be useful.
Thank you very much!

Hi Damian, does this mean it is unlikely from the GCP end anything meaningful could be done, and that the best bet is to consult my instituition if i could recover the old institution account that was based on gmail/google workspace?
Thank you very much!
