Cloud Storage - Bucket UI not working for some users (recursive /browser/browser/... path)

Recently I've been encountering some issues on the Cloud Storage Bucket UI at https://console.cloud.google.com/storage/browser

When a user with sufficient IAM policy to read from the bucket tries to view the bucket via the UI, instead they are greeted with recursive browser > browser > browser > ... path. Even though the project ID in the URL is correct and the user used to be able to access it via this link, it sometimes break intermittently. The user used to be able to work around it by using Edge instead of Chrome to access it, but right now nothing works. Private browsing and different browsers doesn't work either. The URL also gets replaced with /browser/browser/browser... when visiting the URL from a previously known to work bookmark. No changes to the IAM policy or bucket was made. The bucket doesn't have "Requester Pays" enabled either. The user is logged in to a correct account with sufficient IAM permissions.

Has anyone encountered this issue and has a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Are your users navigating to the url https://console.cloud.google.com/storage/browser directly without going through the console home page and navigating?

https://console.cloud.google.com/

I'm wondering if semantics are defined for direct navigation into the interior of the console?

I'm also wondering if your browsers are being used from inside your company where a proxy may be tweaking cookies or other items.  If you accessed from home or a personal laptop at home ... does the issue still appear?  Based on the screenshot above, I am seeing an attempt to access a bucket called gs://browser.  I've never heard of this as an issue before.  Here's hoping someone else has seen similar and we can start to look for clues/patterns.

I am navigating through console home page also experienced the similiar problem with my home network

I also tried to switch to incognito mode also got the same problem

my Macbook is also error like this. the solution is you need to change the primary language to English (US). I don't know why that solution can fix this problem but it's work for me

Thank you very much this solution can solve in my 2 browser (Chrome and firefox)

I ran into the same problem. I have this problem both in windows laptop and android mobile (Chrome Browser). I try to add bucket permission to user but still can't see the bucket files, even if I switch to another user. Still having the same problem, however I can use [ gsutil ls ] and see the files inside the bucket.

I found the solution: set the browser's language to English (US).
