Cloud Storage billing enquiry

I am new to GCP (free trail period).

I perform testing by creating a multi-region archive-class bucket, upload several GB of data.

After that, i find out there is replication fee for multi-region bucket, therefore i delete the bucket immediately.

If i upgrade to paid customer in the future, will i still need to pay the replication fee and storage fee for the deleted data uploaded in the free trail period? It seems that the archive class has a minimum storage period of 365 days.

Thanks in advance.

If you delete the multi-region archive-class bucket before the end of your free trial period, you will not be charged for replication or storage fees for that bucket. However, note that as you mentioned, the archive class has a minimum storage period of 365 days, so you may be charged for storage fees for the data that you uploaded to that bucket during the free trial period, even if you delete the bucket.

If you upgrade to a paid customer in the future, you will need to pay for the storage fees for any data that you store in Google Cloud Storage, including data that was uploaded during the free trial period. However, you will not be charged for replication fees for a multi-region archive-class bucket that was deleted during the free trial period.

It's important to review the pricing details and storage classes for Google Cloud Storage before you start using it to avoid unexpected charges. You can also use the pricing calculator provided by Google Cloud to estimate the costs for the services you plan to use.

Hi, cccc,

You will not need to pay for the data you've already deleted in the future.  You are charged _when_ you delete the file and you pay for the remainder of the storage duration.  The the pricing documentation says: "You can delete, replace, or move an object before it has been stored for the minimum duration, but at *the time you delete*, replace, or move the object, *you are charged* as if the object was stored for the minimum duration. See the early deletion example to see how charges apply."  The worked example is worth reading through.

Since archival storage in the US multi-region costs $0.0024/month, you should expect to see an early deletion charge  of about  $0.0024*12 = $0.03 per GB of data against your trial credit.

Hope this helps.
