Cloud storage and gmail problem

I am confused at best and not sure where to turn.

We started getting emails that our account was out of storage and our gmail account would no longer be able to accept emails.  The problem is that we did not even know this gmail account or cloud existed.  We think it was set up when we purchased our iphones from Verizon 5 years ago.

I downloaded all of the pictures from the cloud but am concerned about losing even more data if I delete the account. And what happens to the gmail account we use if it is buried under the account we do not use.

Would love to talk to someone but that does not seem to be an option.

Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction.
