According to
https://cloud.google.com/free/docs/free-cloud-features#app-engine
Compute engine is allegedly always free if you run a micro instance from certain locations.
However when you try and launch a micro instance from those locations you get a Monthly estimate that isn't free!..
Anyone know if it is infact free and the estimate is wrong? many thanks,
J
Hello,
Regarding your question, I just want to explain that Cloud GCP provides a 90-day trial period that includes $300 in free as described by the Google Cloud Free Program. There are methods to use Google products free of charge, within specified monthly usage limits. When you stay within the Free Tier limits, these resources are not charged against your Free Trial credits or to your Cloud Billing account's payment method after your trial ends. Once the limit has been finished, GCP analyzes the period and resource to apply a charge.
Additionally, your Free Tier e2-micro instance limit is by time, not by instance. Each month, eligible use of your e2-micro instance is free until you have used a number of hours equal to the total hours in the current month. Usage calculations are combined across the supported regions. If you want to know more about resource costs, you can contact a Google Cloud Sales Specialist.
Hi Horaciog!, thanks for your response.
I think i'll just give it a try:
- 1 non-preemptible e2-micro VM instance per month in one of the following US regions:
- Oregon: us-west1
- Iowa: us-central1
- South Carolina: us-east1
the above certainly implies that an e2-micro instance in one of those regions would be free each month. Thanks for your help.
