We are on Google workspace for education from 2020, under Microsoft AD server. We have 800+ chrome books besides 500+ Windows workstation. We are aiming to migrate from current setup to vanilla system both client and server level.
Anyone experienced of system migration from Microsoft to Google cloud or vanilla system, could you share your project migration experience.
Hi @Abdullah360,
Welcome to the Google Cloud Community!
For your migration needs, Google offers several services:
1. Google Workspace Migrate - Google Workspace Migrate allows you to move large amounts of content into a Google Workspace domain. With Google Workspace Migrate, you can manage large-scale migrations into multiple Google Workspace core services from a single place[1].
2. Google Cloud Directory Sync - With Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS), you can synchronize the data in your Google Account with your Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP server. GCDS doesn't migrate any content (such as email messages, calendar events, or files) to your Google Account. You use GCDS to synchronize your Google users, groups, and shared contacts to match the information in your LDAP server[2].
Both these tools are tailored to make the transition to Google Workspace smoother and more manageable, especially in environments previously reliant on Microsoft services. Please note that some features of Microsoft Active Directory are not offered by Google.
