I'm a student, my trial period expired and I desperately need to recover some files from a VM instance.
How can I do it? Will it cost me and how much eventually?

Depends how you had configuration. And depends wether your VM has been shut down and project has been scheduled for deletion or not. Basically, if you had VM with local SSD and VM has been shut down, you are not able to recover data from that disks ( apart from bootdisk ). If you project has been shut down and thus scheduled to be deleted in 30 days, it might be possible that all disks has been deleted after schedule. Main questions are:
1. Do you have access to this VM at this moment or not?
2. What is your project status at this moment ?
3. What is your payment status for this project?

It was indeed scheduled for deletion on 18 July. I activated the billing, and now the popup at the top of the page is gone. The VM is shut down. I believe starting it would cost me.
The VM has 300GB permanent SSD, 64GB permanent SSD for swap, 16GB of RAM, and I believe 8 cores
