Small GCE VM and He-net IPv6 tunnel

Hi,

I setup a he-ipv6 interface as it was mentioned at He-net configuration page.
It was successfull. The localside ::2 is pingable. It is not so interesting.

The remote side (::1) is not pingable!
root@ub2-1:/etc/netplan# ping 2001:470:1f1a:xxx::1
PING 2001:470:1f1a:xxx::1(2001:470:1f1a:xxx::1) 56 data bytes
From 2001:470:1f1a:xxx::2 icmp_seq=1 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable

I read somewhere IPv6 encap not supported.

Can I setup this IPv4-to-IPv6 tunnel or not?

TIA,
Ruzsi

Hi @rattila,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

There is no direct setup for the IPv4-to-IPv6 tunnel. However, with regards to IPv6 encapsulation, you can use HA-VPN.

HA VPN supports IPv6 traffic over IPv4 IPsec tunnels through the use of Dual-Stack IPsec. This provides a highly available and secure way to connect your on-premises network to your GCP VPC network, even if your on-premises network uses IPv6.

You can also check this document about third-party VPN.
