Do we need to ay customs duty for swags received ?

Hi All,

I have completed one sertification from Google and have cleared the exam and have got a bag as a swag for completing it.I see in certification perks website that we need not pay any custom duty but I received the bag today and the postal dpartment are asking me to pay 4247 for the swag.Do we need to pay that amount to take the swags??Please guide me I stay in Bangalore,India.

No, you dont have to pay any custom duties. It it prepaid. You wont be charged anything

Not for learn to earn - Only for qwiklabs express & certification swags

Note - rules differ for different countries

Thanks for all the posts and I sent a mail to the id in the support website and got a reply that I will get a refund once I upload the receipt and payment done. So I have made payment and received my swags.

Hey there, I just received my swag for qwiklabs express and I didn't have to pay any customs duty or any other charges. Everything was prepaid from Google's side. So maybe It was a temporary problem and is now solved. So don't worry You won't need to pay anything on getting the swags. Hope this helps! Cheers !

Could anyone please confirm if the amount is refunded by Google once the receipt is mailed to robertsonmarketing.com as I got a mail from local post office that I have to pay 4300 Rs to collect the parcel.

You need to pay the custom and the money will be refunded to u once u upload the bill to the google team

I uploaded the bill on 10th May. The reply mail said that it'll take 4-6 weeks for processing. On 25th May (day before yesterday), I got a mail saying that the amount is refunded and it'll take a couple of days for the refund to show up in my account. Yet to receive the refund.

The support team is giving proper reply for emails. Ask them. They'll definitely guide you.

The post office employee is saying there won't be any bill for the duty
charges paid and it should be paid by cash.

May I know how did you get the bill?

you will not get any bill, the customs tax challan pasted on the parcel will be your bill. i used the same and got my refund completely within 7 working days.

@kaustubha - Which document / payment receipt you uploaded to support team for refund? cause I am also facing same situation now, I got call fro Post office to Pay amount , Do we get any payment receipt from post office?

you will not any seperate bill , customs challan pasted on the parcel will be your bill. i used the same and got full refund from google (robertson )

I see some confusion about paypal wallet usage in india.

they mode of refund will be paypal or Credit Transaction in your credit card. you can receive as USD in paypal but you cannot take out that as INR in india, but you can use that paypal amount for online transactions across the globe. if you want back as INR, better to get in Credit transaction for your credit card which you can adjust against your outstanding balance. i did the same.

why did i pay ??? silly Question .. govt of india declared a customs Duty on that parcel and google is ready to refund the Duty which i pay, so why hesitation, i need my swag...so i paid , received the parcel and got reimbursed the tax from google... simple... i live in India... not abroad... i am from South
