Information Regarding Cloud Architect career

I am currently in Third Year pursuing IT engineering. I am right now working upon my cloud skills and studying the ACE course on coursera received via Google Cloud Facilitator program. I would like know what must be my further steps as an aspiring Cloud Architect. And what must be the proper path in order to grow well towards the desired thought.

Thank You!

Hi,

from my perspective ( as ex Operational Engineer ), I highly recommend to be familiar with BAU processes as well as software development life cycle. I've observed that architects, who never touched BAU / OPS jobs or tasks, who never been on oncall shift, who never received tons of alerts because of wrong understanding of what should be monitored, those persons will be in my opinion much worts architects than these people who touched somehow mentioned stuff. As an architect you should not only know possibilities of hyperscalers well, but you should also be able to stop in a gentle way weard requests from customers. additionally, I highly recommend to get hands dirty. This approach will allows you to test all knowledge received from books in a real case scenarios. You can start to design small app, for example 3 tier app, create HLD/ LLD. Create documentations, costs estimate, etc. It will brings more value, than only reading books or listening listen in on your studies.

best,
