LAB - Develop an app with Gemini- Repeated challenge?

=================================================

Thanks for weighing in to my threads.

Did anyone complete the above lab successfully?

I did try many times . Each time it fails somewhere . My activity always say

After trying many times, it is not moving beyond 20% . We got error in final steps, still shows 20%.

There is no way to restart and it is frustrating to do all from step1 and fail again. I hope you understand.

I communicated with support many times. Here is the narrative:

“I have tested this lab: "Develop an app with Gemini" from our end and want to let you know that this lab is working fine,”

They shared screenshot from their end:

This shows their end lab testing did not work successfully, even though they above.

Do you agree, this lab have issues and we deserve to get our used credits back?

We are going back and forth on this lab many times with support and reported issues many times. When we follow their screen shots , we are finding the issue, that was overlooked by support team. We tested 4 times , so we need 20 lost credits back.

You need to add additional Check my progress tab to improve it in this LAB.

Thanks for your guidance.

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing your experience — you're definitely not alone in facing this issue with the "Develop an app with Gemini" lab. I’ve also attempted this challenge multiple times and, just like you, the progress gets stuck (often at 20%), especially during the final steps, even when all instructions are followed precisely. It’s very frustrating, particularly when we have to start over each time from scratch.

The fact that support has responded saying the lab “works fine” but their own shared screenshots don’t reflect full completion, only adds to the confusion. This clearly shows that the validation logic may not be functioning properly, or at the very least, needs to be improved for edge cases.

A few suggestions:

  • Please add more “Check my progress” checkpoints in the lab to help users debug step-by-step instead of only at the end.

  • Allow resetting specific steps rather than the whole lab.

  • And yes, considering the repeated attempts and lab inconsistencies, it’s reasonable to request the refund of used credits (20 in this case).

We’re all here to learn and grow — and these kinds of bugs can discourage users who are genuinely trying. I hope the support team re-evaluates this lab carefully and considers fair compensation for affected users.

Thanks again for raising this in detail — let’s hope it helps improve the learning experience for everyone.
Ayush

Thanks for weighing in for our frustration.

From Qwiklabs:

"I’ve thoroughly reviewed everything you’ve shared, and I can see the issues you’re encountering in Task 2: Create a Cloud Workstation / Develop an app with Gemini. You’re definitely not alone in this; other users have reported similar challenges, and I understand how frustrating it must be to hit this wall.

Please know that I’m actively looking into this and will keep you updated as we work through it. I’m committed to helping you get past this and back on track with the lab. "

It took so many iteration to make them admit these issues.

Thanks .

You need to check the indentation/undentation of the python code and the tagging - that you, don't get a spurious </productid> tag added on at the end. I had a few problems with testing the python code on the "local" cloud workstation - but with using gemini if needs be (and it is the point of the lab afterall!) you should be able to get something working, and then it goes very quickly! 😉

Best.
