Learn to Earn Cloud Data Challenge: Tea break!

Hello everyone!

You may have noticed, we are currently experiencing a service disruption. I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience. Our team has been working on changes, but we need a little more time to catch up. So for now, we are pausing the Learn to Earn Cloud Challenge. We plan to resume play July 13, 2022.

But what about earning badges and prizes?

Good question - when we resume play, you’ll notice additional time available on game tracks. We’ll make updates next week. If you’ve already earned enough badges to be eligible for a prize - great work by the way - you’ll receive a prize email at the conclusion of the challenge (no change).

But what do you mean, tea break?

Taking breaks is good for you. Plus it’s an opportunity for more games (and prizes) - outside of a lab manual! Let’s kick off with today’s tea break topic: mentorship.

Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen to, and a push in the right direction.” — John CrosbyMentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen to, and a push in the right direction.” — John Crosby

We all need mentors to support us and give us that extra nudge towards opportunity. And it has been amazing to see mentorship happening here, as you all support each other with lab tricks, debugging, credits, and knowledge sharing.

So today, let’s celebrate mentors in this community. Folks who have been answering questions on Learn to Earn (and other programs), pointed to resources, and shared their experience.

Nominate someone who has helped you

Here’s how to participate:

  1. Comment below and tag someone (a community member!) who has helped you over the course of this challenge. Or another challenge! We’re not picky!
  2. They’ll need to have a GCC account so you can tag them.
  3. Was your nominee already added by someone else? Upvote them!

On Monday, we’ll select 5 GCC users (based on comments and GCC badges!) to get a surprise 🎁 in appreciation of their commitment to helping!

Thanks in advance for the nominations - I’m looking forward to reading over a cup of coffee

Hey!!!!!, i DM'd you last week when the competition started , when i didn't get a reply , I thought you were not using this account anymore. Good to know you're back , let's go up the ranks in the games from next week like we used to previously.

I have responded to it now . I forgot password to my account so was not able to login to the community but i saw your comments on different posts and yes let's go up the ranks from the next game!

@harshit1921 thank you for helping through out and giving alternate methods.

@sigma112 aka Harshal thanks for letting me know about this event and also helping me during college exams X0

Thanks for nominating me, I Liked your ideas too about how the scripts can be changed to the games from us central-1 to other locations so that labs can go on. Maybe from the 13th, we'll have this program without any interruption.

Thanks @sigma112 for your guidance on prerequisite labs. @harshit1921 Thanks for your help on machine learning track and i saw you have some experience in flutter . I'll be bugging you for that too!

@sigma112, Ty:)  for helping out during this L2E . I was really difficult  to troubleshoot through things alone.

thx bro @harshit1921 for responding to all the dms at late night and helping.

So @harshit1921 what i liked about your style of helping is that  you always explained the difficult stuff easily and and yes i do like your tips and tricks on how to get a higher rank in the game and Good to see that you have helped others also and just not me.

I was observing that some lab working but on that labs only oneortwo task is not completing because of error

@PrashantPatil He is great mentor and very helping hand nature. He gave me 5 credits which is huge for me. I am successfully completed prerequisite lab but while working on lab i am facing some issues, he helped me to solve those labs

@Abhishek213 help me a lot.

@smitop thanks a lot 🙂for helping me out.

thnk u for ur mention ..it was my pleasure to help u ..see ya in other events and waiting for your doubts too :d

ya, sure

Suppose we have started badge and did not complete all the labs will our lab be saved.

yes ur progress won't be lost

Same question

all completed labs will not affected, your completed labs will be counted, they are testing and fixing those labs which were unable to start or unable to complete the given task,

If you have completed that lab already don't worry, you will be marked as completed.

your hard work will not go waste, don't worry.

i would like to thank u my newly made friends @smitop and @Abhishek213  i am new in this community joined today only and i got miracle ans from these two guys

  • I would like to thank Yash Jain for their support and guidance for guiding me in learn to earn challenge.

Break is good 🙂

But the thing is, weekend is usually the only time I'm able to work on these labs, since during weekdays I'm usually busy with work. I assume there's no issue to continue the labs even though the challenge is currently on pause right?

@Ayush_1350  thanks a lot for helping me out.😇

  • “I’m tagging you as an example to my kids of someone unselfish, giving and ready with a can-do spirit. I hope they turn out just like you.”
  • @Bhaumikpatel
  • Thanks for do everything for me.
  • Love You Brother ❤️

@smitop Hi, What would be expected ETA to resolve it ?

Hello @emily927, Thanks for the update. Also, I've noticed that there are some errors in some of the labs.

I've noticed that the lab's Machine Learning with Spark on Google Cloud Dataproc GSP271 & Visualize Real-Time Geospatial Data with Google Data Studio GSP201 has some errors. And I see that the error is with the regions us-east4 and us-central1. Kindly fix these issues. Thank you.

Kindly find the screenshots of the error here:
