emily927
Former Googler

Got your ticket to free labs? Great! Thanks for joining us! Amazing to see all the new badges rolling in from last week 😍

When you’re considering gifts for friends and family, do you check the product reviews and recs? I do! So this week, let’s talk about lab recommendations.

What is one lab or quest that you would give a five-star recommendation? And why?

Maybe it taught you a useful skill or helped you explore a really interesting topic? Or maybe it helped you tackle a really tough challenge at work? Drop your recommendation as a comment on this thread, and share why you picked it.

“Like” the other recommendations that resonate with you. No limit to how many “likes” and replies you can give but please limit yourself to one recommendation! And with your #QwiklabsExpress ticket, feel free to explore the recs that interest you. After all, this week we’re all about diving deep into a new skillset 🙂

Now the fun part. The top 10 eligible recommendations with the most "likes" by Dec. 22, 2021 end of day (Pacific time) will receive an additional gift. While supplies last, limited time only.

IMPORTANT:

  1. Please continue to respect and follow community guidelines
  2. Please continue to discuss prizes on this post only.

What to include in your rec (recommendations that don't meet all requirements are welcome, but ineligible for any prize):

  1. Reply to this exact thread
  2. Include the exact name of the lab or quest (will be used to verify your rec!)
  3. A few words about why you recommend that particular lab or quest
  4. A link to your Skills Boost profile
  5. Please "like" at least one other rec that resonates with you

👉DO NOT EXPECT A DM IMMEDIATELY👈 if you think you are eligible for a gift. DMs will arrive before Jan 31, 2022. Limit one prize per person, only while supplies last, first come first serve.

FAQs

  1. Do I have to earn the badge or complete the lab I recommend?
    1. Yes! But it doesn't have to have been earned this week.
  2. Where do I post my comment?
    1. Reply to this post. Anything outside of this thread will not be considered.
  3. What do you mean, "most likes"?
    1. Every Google Cloud Community member can click "like" for any post or comment (it's the "thumbs up" symbol 👍). You can see the number of "likes" in realtime. The 10 recs that receive the most 👍 will be considered.
  4. What if I write the 11th review?
    1. You missed this one but never fear. Stay tuned for next week's challenge!
  5. What if I don't want to post a link to my Skills Boost profile?
    1. You are welcome to avail yourself of the free training opportunity, but you're only eligible for a gift if you meet all the requirements listed.
  6. What if I don't want to post in the GCC?
    1. You are welcome to avail yourself of the free training opportunity, but you're only eligible for a gift if you meet all the requirements listed.
  7. What if I have a question about the gift?
    1. I’m glad you asked! All swag-related questions should be posted on this thread. Any swag-related comments posted elsewhere (for example in the general forum) will be assessed and removed by moderators, in an effort to keep our forums well-organized and helpful.

Looking forward to taking some of your highly-recommended labs as 2021 winds down! After all, December is a great month to learn something new 🙂 🎄

My Recommendation is : Kubernetes in Google Cloud (GKE)

I would recommended Deploy to Kubernetes in Google Cloud, because in today fast environment everyone is looking for fault tolerant and high availability. So anyone can do this lab and understand how to deploy Kubernetes in their environment. Also GKE is fully managed by google.

You can learn how to deploy application new features rolling updates without any downtime, and rollback if there is some bug, and all this is really very helpful in production environment.

According to my views, the one lab which is a 5-star level is - "Getting Started with Cloud Shell and gcloud " under Quest: "Create and Manage Cloud Resources". I feel that way because it taught me very deeply how to use cloud shell to run various commands and manipulate my data and actions on the google cloud console.

For this week, I learned about the basic tools and services of Google Cloud, and a hands-on experience I can apply to my first Google Cloud project.I earn a badge of Exploring data with locker.  link: Exploring data with locker

It's full of joy and I upgrade my skill with help of qwiklab hands on free lab.

thank you very much @emily927 for this events.

In my view the most important lab for me is  - "A Tour of Google Cloud Hands-on Labs" . Because it is the first steps for a beginner like me to start learning with Google Cloud by getting hands-on practice with the Cloud Console and to manage Google Cloud Services. You will get to know key features of Google Cloud and it also teaches about the details of the lab environment. In my opinion if you want to start the 🎄🎊🎄Christmas🎄🎊🎄 by learning Google Cloud then this lab is my advice as a 🎁gift for you to start with.

MERRY CHRISTMAS😊🎊!!

PLEASE LIKE MY COMMENT AND THANK YOU!!!

I have learned a lot from Qwiklabs. The quest which I found most informative is *Perform Foundational Data, ML, and AI Tasks in Google Cloud*. It comprises of the following labs:

AI Platform, Data Prep, Data Flow, Data Proc, Video Intelligence, Google cloud speech API. Although the other labs were also informative, but I found this one engaging. The lab teaches the technologies which we are using in our daily lives, but we do not know about the backend of such technologies. Through this lab I got a deep insight of such technologies. Thank u @emily927  and Qwiklabs to make us familiar with such technologies.

Excellent lab!!

Quest Name : "Google Cloud Essentials".

Recommendation : I would strongly recommend and give 5 stars to the "Google Cloud Essentials" quest.

I think anyone come in with little or no prior cloud knowledge, and come out with practical experience. Even This is the first lab that I did. It brought my interest in the field . Here I learn about Cloud shell, Kubernates Engine, Virtual Machines, Load Balancers and little knowledge to getting started with Google cloud world. It provides  hands-on practice with the Google Cloud’s fundamental tools and services that thing I like the most.

I come in with little prior cloud knowledge, and come out with practical experience that I can apply to my first Google Cloud project. Cleared my doubts regarding the basic concepts of GCP also.  so many insights from this lab.

In this introductory-level Quest, I will get hands-on practice with the Google Cloud’s fundamental tools and services. Google Cloud Essentials is the recommended first Quest for the Google Cloud learner - I will come in with little or no prior cloud knowledge, and come out with practical experience that I can apply to my first Google Cloud project. From writing Cloud Shell commands and deploying my first virtual machine, to running applications on Kubernetes Engine or with load balancing, Google Cloud Essentials is a prime introduction to the platform’s basic features.

Thanks to giving this great opportunity...!!! 🙂

I learned about the Google Cloud Essentials.

I am a beginner in this field. So this was a great opportunity and a greater experience.

I learned about the different features of Google Cloud Console and the different set of commands to use for a project.

It was a wonderful course!

"Google Cloud Essential" is the one quest for which I would award a five-star rating.
This is my very first laboratory.
It piqued my interest in the field and informed me about the subject.
It was a whole different experience.
That training provided a bright, clear picture with detailed directions.

Here is another best use case for quest labs. I've project meeting with client who is in engineering business. I learned that they have extensive use of data science & AI/ML technologies in their product. I'll give five-star to this lab. I am aware of AI/ML concepts but little/no hands on. So I quickly completed the "Perform Foundational Data, ML, and AI Tasks in Google Cloud" quest and now I am confident that I have little better understanding of these products/offering and their usage.

Hi, am an engineer who is currently unemployed and sunk in the darkness without any happiness. Please help me out here guys. According to me i have completed "A Tour of Google Cloud Hands-on Labs" and gave it a 5 star rating because i like cloud fundamentals, Secondly "Create and Manage Cloud Resources" and gave 5 star too for this lab. Since this is a top 10 only we'll have a deal....i've been unemployed for like 5 months and all the light in my life has vanished....this was the only way i could enlighten me up....so if you(anonymous) like my comment i'll like back yours with extra 3 comments...specifically everyone will ignore...but here's the chance...we could among the top 10...if we like each others comments....am honest as heaven...thank you

Hi @emily927 👋🏻

According to me, the one lab with 5-star  level is "Perform Foundational Infrastructure Tasks in Google Cloud". I personally think so because the lab gets the beginners to get started with the basic tasks and get a firm grip on the Fundamentals of Google Cloud Platform

According to me , the 1 lab which is a 5-(Star) level is - Kubernetes Engine: Qwik Start under "Google Cloud Essentials" Quest.

Recently, Under the #QwiklabsExpress Event, In Week-1 I completed my 1st quest "Google Cloud Essentials" and in this quest I got an opportunity to learn about Google Kubernetes Engine(GKE).

In this Quickstart, I deployed a simple web server containerized application to a Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) cluster.  And I learnt how to create a cluster, and how to deploy the application to the cluster so that it can be accessed by users. This lab helped me to do hands-on practice with container creation and application deployment with GKE.  It is very useful for beginners as well as professionals who are new to Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine. So because of this reason, I recommended this particular lab.

Please like my comment and thank you so much! 😇😊

Thank you so much #Qwiklabs and #Googlecloud for this opportunity😀.
