Adding a trend line to a column graph

I have a set of data that I want to see in columns, and I'd like to add a trendline - as can easily be done in Google Sheets. How can I go about it in Looker Studio?

Trend lines are only available for certain chart types in Looker Studio. For example, you can apply a trend line to the time series (line) chart , but I don't know of a way to automatically generate one for a column chart.

The basic and quick way to create a trending report always includes these two elements: Date and metrics data. If you have this type of data, follow the steps below in Looker Studio:

1. Click "Add a chart."
2. Choose a time series report.
3. Import the dimension → Date and the metric → Any other data you have.
