All my images have undesired links

Hi there

In the last few days we have experimented in this issue in all our dashboards:

We've noticed that:

- All embedded images have links (rollover hand), but their properties don't have any links at all

- When a user clicks on the image, it opens a new tab that gives a redirect error

We know that Google has implemented changes in redirection warnings since 09.01, but our problem is that we don't have any links but Looker seems to think otherwise: It's as if all our dashboards have hidden links in all images, but we can't find where they're coming from.

Can you please shed some light on this issue?

Thanks in advance

Happening here too. Seems like a lot of issues related to images are being reported.

Hi there

Any solutions / workarounds on the issue?

Best

It is still not working as expected

Sorry for the trouble! I will pass this on to the developers.

I did discover that this seems to happen if you interact with the Insert link options in any way. Even if you had a link and then removed it, the image still thinks it's a link. So for the moment, if you add a new image, don't touch the insert link button and the image should behave as a static picture.

I do it, but it doesnt work. Every image i added to my deashboard still opem a invalid link that i dont added it.

I posted this tip on a similar thread:

One alternative to embedded images is to use a single-cell table (one column, one row, no headers or pagination, etc) to display the image where you want it in the report. In this case you would have a data source Sheet that lists the image links, and use a chart filter to only include the one you want in the table). What's nice about this is that then you can change the link in the Sheet and all the reports that use that image will change (like a company logo). Just make sure the source uses Owner's credentials.

But what we do when the image is the background of the dashboard?

I'm struggling with this at the moment, too. It's really ruining the UX of my reports. Is there a way to escalate this so we can get it sorted?

My dashboard too. 😞

I'm having the same problem here 😞 I didn't find anything that could fix it, but I came up with an alternative solution that solved the problem:

- Add a rectangle (from Looker Studio) the size of your image

- Adjust opacity to 0%

- Move your img to the last layer

This way, the rectangle will be on top of the image and the "LINK" won't be able to be clicked

One alternative as said before is to use a table with one column, one row, no headers or pagination, etc. You would have a data source sheet that lists the image links in the format https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=IMAGE_ID.

Apologies for the inconvenience, all! (But those are some clever workarounds!)

We have a fix that should be out in next week's release.
