Hello! I am working on displaying some data in a line chart for a single year, but the months are all out of order. Is there a way to fix this?
Check your Sort option on the Setup panel, and check to make sure that your data source recognizes your months as dates and not just text. You'll need to make sure the Months are of type Date (Month) and that your sort is by Month (ascending). It looks like your sort is probably by Booked Revenue (descending).
If that doesn't help, please share a screen shot of how you have your Dimension, Metric, and Sort on the Setup tab of the chart and we can try to help more.
Thank you for your response! I tries what you have suggested and it still has the months listed out of order. I attached the other screenshots like you have asked. Thank you for helping me!
So the issue is that your Months are not being viewed as date fields. See the "ABC" next to "Month"? That indicates that the Month field has a type of Text, so sorting by it just sorts alphabetically. It needs to have a type of Date, in which case it would show a little calendar instead of the ABC. Then it will sort the way you expect.
What is your data source (Sheets, BQ, something else)? Do your date values have a year associated with them? Try going into your data source (Resource > Manage added data sources > pencil icon) and see if you can change your Month field in the Type column to Date & Time: Month (or Year Month, then see if that makes a difference.
(edited response since the name of your field is Month, and not Date.)
