Enable/Disable Default Parameter at report level

Hi All,

I have a data source and added few parameters to this. Now at report level for few insights/chats I don't want to use my parameters. Currently when I am adding a chart/graph to my page, the parameters automatically get added to that chart/graph.

Is there any work around where I can enable /disable my parameter settings as per the requirement?

Thanks in advance

I see 2  possible data-source context:

1) If your parameters are part of a custom query to load data from your data source (BigQuery as example), you can imagine to add a new boolean parameter "Turn on parameters" and include the value of this parameter as part of the query to take in account or not the other existing parameters.

2) If your parameters have no impact on the data loading, you can just use directly the dimensions of the data source, without including the values of the parameters in the logic of reporting (no calculated field conditioning the outcomes).

Feel free to tell me if you need more info or accept the answer as a solution.

Hi @Mehdi_Oudjida ,
Thank You for your response.
1. Yes , my parameters are a part of my custom query, which has been used to publish my looker dashboard into my webpage.
2. I have an existing dashboard at organization level which has parameter in custom query but those parameters are not added to looker page by default.
Here I am trying to understand how to achieve the same.

@BDutta

You don't need to include a control in a report page to take in account a value provided by a parameter. Parameters have default values applied without interaction or configuration for your custom query. You can also use parameters as an additional way to configure your chart in the setup tab of each chart (or at the chart group, page or report level).

I hope it helps.

Feel free to tell me if you need more info, otherwise you can accept this answer as a solution.

Hi @Mehdi_Oudjida ,
Thank You so much for your response.
I am using Looker studio pro and I have no such option available at report level.
I can see that you have this feature available... Can you help me with your version details?

Thank You

@BDutta

It is another topic but for most of the LS Pro features, you need to move your report in a workspace to see them appearing in your interface.

For information, the screenshot I shared previously is not concerned by any LS Pro feature.
