I've built a dashboard for a client that is not familiar with Google Analytics data. I've showed it to him and he asked me to clarify on the exact meaning of data in widgets, and also the meaning of some metrics and dimensions. I've explained all to him but he said that he has to show it to his manager and is unable to recall everything.
The problem is that there is no much room for text, since there are many widgets on each page. The client has 5 websites, and there is a dozen widget for each website. If I leave room for text for every widget, the dashboard would count 50+ pages and I would like to keep it compact.
Is there a way to add notes/comments/tooltips? I can't find one. 🤔
Thanks to anyone who will help me!
Solved! Go to Solution.
There's a relatively new feature that allows you to add tooltips to table headers. Even if you need the tooltip for something other than a table, you could do a bit of a hack where you create a table with only the dimension you need the tooltip for, then do some resizing/formatting so only the header shows and it basically just becomes a hover area.
I believe there are also some community visualizations that allow you to add tooltips, though I haven't used them so I can't recommend for sure.
No need to start again from scratch. You can add community visualizations to an existing dashboard.
I personally use Popup by Siavak.com
To install it, go to community visualization -> Build your own visualization -> gs://siavak-visualizations/popup

Hello,
The only graph I know that avails tooltips in Looker Studio is the map. I faced a similar challenge, and what I did was create a dedicated information slide with explanations for the metrics and graphs.
Thank you Carlos,
do you mean that you put all the notes in a final slide, and in the widgets you put a number, like notes in a book or paper, or wikipedia style?
Yeah exactly that, I added some images so it is more visually appealing.

Quite complicated indeed! As for the community visualizations, does it mean that I have to redo from start the dashboard using the a new template?
