Features & Enhancements

Item Description
Enhancement Adjusted gray text color in dark theme for higher contrast.

Some places that use gray text, like Form View input labels, were reported to have inadequate contrast. Deployed to all.

Enhancement Chart Views now respect set Display Names for the chart title.

Previously when a user set a display name for a chart view, that display name was only respected on the navigation, and not as the title above the chart itself.

Enhancement Special characters are no longer allowed in the App name when copying an app. This matches the behavior used when creating an App.

Bug Fixes

Item Description
Bug An issue was fixed where action buttons would sometimes have a redundant tooltip.

This change removes redundant tooltips that were appearing alongside prominent actions that already had a visible label. It also rolls back action button tooltips to free users only. The FAB tooltips will continue to roll out to premium users and have not been rolled back.

Deployed to 100% of free users and 50% of paid users.

Bug
An issue was fixed where Ref-type image labels were too small in some contexts. Deployed to all.
Bug An issue was fixed where an account alert showed for Workspace Enterprise customers when such an alert should not have appeared. Deployed to all.
Bug An issue was fixed where when image and text were present in a group header, they were not aligned properly. Deployed to all.
Bug An issue was fixed that prevented the download of uncommon file types, such as .x_t, with Google Drive as the app provider. Deployed to 1% of free users.

Rollout changes

None.

As one of the people who expressed concern about the redundant tooltips, I’d like to thank you for this improvement. I would also like to note that several tooltip issues I have raised are still unresolved. I hope they are being looked at. Thanks!

Tooltip issues I raised:

The issues I raised in this post all have to do with how tooltips work (or don’t work) on smartphones.

Is it me or has the ToolTips feature fallen off the release notes? I don’t see it listed under the Preview Program feature list in the release notes, nor do I see the option anywhere in my paid account. I am most interested in enabling ToolTips on “Display Overlay” action buttons. What is the latest deployment status on this feature?

Hi Jamie – I brought this up with AppSheet engineering and am waiting for a response.

After the featurer was released for preview, we, community, provided with bunch of feedback.

We understand the feature was pulled back after that, so currently another construction should be going on to make it better.
