Manual Recovery - Excel File for Getting Your Data Back

This week I had one app fail with critical data that I needed. The user went through the manual recovery steps and sent me by email the output - Errors and warnings during Sync 

This was over 6000 lines of data that would take forever to manually sort so I have created an Excel file that automatically groups and sorts the data. You can download this from here - Excel File - Take a copy of this and use it on your desktop in Excel rather than Sheets online.

Use the Excel file at your own risk etc and double-check outputted data. It has worked for me in this project but if it doesn't work for you there is no password on it so I am sure you will be able to find the issue and correct it as we should all be half decent at Excel!... I'm sharing it as I could not find anything online to help me. 

What it does.

If you have received recovered data that looks like this

You can paste this into the Excel file. It will group and highlight each section of data.

You then select which data section you want to work with/recover

From here it sorts the data, splits it into columns and removes the not needed characters.

You then copy and paste your headers from your AppSheet Excel/Google Sheets file into this and the sheet matches up the recovered headers against your sheet headers and creates a row that can be copied and pasted back into your AppSheet Excel/Google Sheets.

The sheet explains the steps that need to be taken.

There will be some formatting errors with dates and numbers if going from Excel to Sheets but a whole line of data be recovered in a few minutes. Once the data is back in your spreadsheet open the data in AppSheet and check and add any missing details or photos.
