Assign Tasks from Docs?

So this new feature to Assign Tasks from within Docs was announced back in mid-August, but has yet to appear in our domains.  Does anyone else have this feature yet?

Even with the max 15 day rollout, everyone on Workspace domains should have this feature by now, Oct. 11.

The availability now states that this feature is not available on Google for Ed Fundamentals (free).  Looks like you need a paid version to have access.

This feature is not showing up on our education domain. Any insight on this?

I continue to feel your pain. Google support informed me that this should be out to everyone "by the end of the quarter." There are only a few days left in the quarter...

Even though this feature has, indeed, rolled out for us and several other folks, it is still not fully functional since there is no API access for the feature, so tools like TasksBoard do not work with tasks created from Docs— they are invisible except within gDocs/gTasks itself.

Unfortunately, the Google Tasks created from a Google Workspace product such as Google Chat Room / Google Space / Google Docs are not retrievable from the Google Tasks API and then we cannot get them on TasksBoard.

We will support these features as soon as Google makes them available for developers.

If you haven't already, it would be a good idea to open a case with Google if only to increase awareness.

The feature hasn't been rolled out to our domain yet and we're into the next quarter. Very frustrating.

October 2023 here and I can assign tasks only to myself (non-profit domain). Is it correct? If I try to assign to another user (internal, with doc access) I cannot find anybody except me in the search box. Other users looking at the doc see "Unable to load user" to tasks assigned to someone else.

Anybody has this feature fully working by now on non-profit domains?

The feature only adds the ability to assign tasks to internal collaborators, not external collaborators. It sucks, but it's probably this way (for now) to prevent using Tasks as a vehicle for data exfiltration. I recommend posting in the Feature Ideas forum, as well as giving in-app feedback in Google Docs (by choosing Help Docs improve from the Help menu)

Unfortunately, it is not solved for all edu Domains. We are and Education Plus domain at Maine.edu and this still does not work on desktop, only mobile. The radio silence from our Google reps is offputting, to say the least. Please help us fix this Google people.

Can you comment on this? Assigning tasks only works from mobile apps and not from any browsers. We have a Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals.

We are only able to do it from mobile devices also.
