Hi!
I'm looking for a solid method of blocking access to employees logging into their personal Gmail accounts, while not impacting their ability to log into their Google Workspace account. Unfortunately, Google combines URLs for Gmail and Google Workspace (!!!), making it difficult to control access. There doesn't appear to be documentation on it either. Our temp solution became undone, to our lack of knowledge, when Google recently migrated from v2 to v3, and changed who knows what or how many URLs affecting the login process.
Solved! Go to Solution.
@jatkin I think that's only available on Chrome OS devices. I don't know if Chrome Enterprise gives that option. See https://support.google.com/a/answer/1668854?hl=en for more information. -KAM
Hello Jatkin,
Could you provide more information please.
1. Are employees using company devices or personal?
2. Do you have an MDM solution enabled on the devices used?
3. What are the websites you are trying to block?
Thank you
1. Using company desktop computers on our network. They access their email via the web (Chrome browser).
2. N/A
3. We are trying to block access to employees logging into a Gmail account that is not part of our Google Workspace environment. We can control access via a proxy server, but haven't been able to distinguish between links used for Google Workspace vs. Gmail.

So if a company wanted to block individuals from logging into their personal gmail accounts while in the office, they are out of luck?
@jatkin There are plenty of solutions to it. You just might need software that allows you to manage those machines. If they are all corporate devices and running Windows, for example, you could use Group Policies & Firewalls to do it. If you are running Chrome Enterprise, you can enforce policies that they have to login to a corporate domain. However, the point of my post is that the option referred to above is only going to apply to managed ChromeOS devices to my knowledge. Are you using managed ChromeOS devices? -KAM
Thanks. I misunderstood what you orignally wrote. That link you provided does indeed answer my questions.
