Cloud Identity Groups vs Workspace Groups

What's the difference between Cloud Identity Groups and Workspace Groups? Are they the same thing, just presented in different ways?

Hi KaoruBiniti, if talking about the Cloud Identity Groups API presented in https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2020/08/new-api-cloud-identity-groups-google.html, that helps to manage actual Google Groups (so groups found at groups.google.com). Google Groups can be used for mailing purposes so let's say you know 60 people that all need to be sent emails at the same time for the same purpose so for example long term group project, an admin might place them into a specific Google Group so then an email can be sent to a certain group email address rather than to all 60 individual email addresses (https://support.google.com/groups/answer/2464926?hl=en).

I am not sure what you mean by Workspace Groups however when I hear of that term, I think of groups that are created inside of the Admin Console. Users can be placed in different groups where some groups might have access to a certain service and another group might not have access to it. Of course, a group can be made for emailing and collaboration purposes (but for example Google Groups can only be used for that purpose and not for placing users into a group for certain service privileges). Article I think about for Workspace Groups is https://support.google.com/a/answer/9400082?hl=en

Yes, I was referring to the emailing groups found in groups.google.com.

This clarifies things for me, thank you!
