I am just about to go out of my mind. I belong to a not-for-profit that a few years back acquired a Google voice number to be used by the organization. Recently we've acquired access to Google workspace where I have set up an auto attendant to handle all the calls we get these days. We are a farm sanctuary that also adopts out cats and dogs. We get a whole range of inquiries in a single day and the auto attendant helps sort it out. It seemed for a while I had it set up quickly where the Google voice number forwarded to the auto attendant number. Something broke and now the auto attendant doesn't work and when I try to link the Google number to the auto attendant I cannot find a way to do that. I am very frustrated. Let me summarize, I want to forward a Google number that is outside the workspace domain to a number within the workspace domain or at least forward to the auto attendant.
I should mention I've tried forwarding one Google number to another and it is definitely not working. The system does not allow me to forward between Google nimbers.
Hi there.
You don't need to forward the Google Voice number to the auto attendant, you need to assign the number to the auto attendant.
See step 7 in this support article
Note: Before you can assign the number to the auto-attendant, you must unassign it from whichever user (or ring group) it's assigned to now, if any.
