Freezing columns that include merged cells in Sheets

Is there a way to freeze a column that includes merged cells? I believe Excel has capability, but I can't seem to find how to do this in Sheets. If it's not possible, I'll send a message to the Google gods and see if they can provide hope.  Ty!

In Google Sheets, you can freeze columns, but there are some limitations when it comes to merged cells. As of now, Google Sheets does not support freezing columns or rows that contain merged cells. When you try to freeze a column with merged cells, the merged cells can cause issues with how the freeze feature behaves.
