Gemini Advanced (for personal Google accounts with Google One) allows direct PDF file uploads, a feature currently unavailable in Gemini for Google Workspace.
Working with pdf files within the Google Workspace environment has many benefits over a personal account. For instance, enterprise data security that assures any data you input will not be used to train the AI model nor will be read by human reviewers.
When should we expect Gemini Advanced features, like direct PDF uploads, to be available in Google Workspace?
Will Gemini for Google Workspace ever catch up to Gemini for Google One and have new features rolled up at the same time?
Thanks.

@caiorauen Until there is a public post/blog, questions like this are typically best/only answered by following the Workspace Roadmap which is NDA level material. What's your role with Workspace and maybe I can advise if you can get access and how if you don't have it. -KAM
Thanks for your understanding! if you have access to the roadmap slides I encourage you to check those out so you can see where the product is headed soon! including the changes coming this quarter!

@KAM Thank you for the reply. My role within Workspace is Super Admin. I would like to take up on your offer and try and get access to the Workspace Roadmap. I have worked as a Contractor in the UK for a different product in the past, so I understand the need and have no problem signing an NDA, if required in order to be granted access to the Workspace Roadmap. The rollout timeline for this feature is essential for planning my business, because right now I am researching and developing internal workflow documentation around the use of AI, and feeding PDF documents instead of copying and pasting big chunks of text is very much a necessity. So yeah, it would be great to look up the roadmap and determine if Gemini would be able to cater to my company needs in the near future.

While I can certainly understand this ask in an ideal world. There's considerations to take into place when releasing a feature for Google Workspace customers, do new admin controls have to be developed so admins can manage ? does new infrastructure have to be set up so that services can run in an industry-compliant way ? if admins disable X in Google Workspace, how should that be handled in Gemini ? so on an so forth.
So while I can't speak to if this is something that will be possible in the future, these are the things to take into account why there are differences in release schedules.
@KevinApodaca Thank you for the reply. I get your point of view and thank you for laying out the considerations. There are indeed more variables at play when releasing new features for enterprise customers, and I do appreciate the thoughtful approach to ensure stability for everyday Workspace users. I guess I got hyped by the new Gemini features announced at Google I/O and was just eager to use the 1 million token context window with PDF files. Plus, once I took up on the Google One AI add-on free trial, I realized how much was missing in Gemini for Workspace. While I do trust that data is handled according to the Privacy Principles in personal accounts, using a Workspace account provides the enterprise-level security and control that personal accounts don't have. While I can understand that right now business turn to Workspace for legacy features, I do hope that generative AI gain more momentum once business realize how much time can be saved on repetitive tasks, with proper prompting techniques and revision. Maybe then we could reach this ideal world where development and testing can focus on rolling out new features for both personal and workspace users.
