Hi I am running a business and using Google workspace for long years. Also suggested Google workspace account for my clients. But now they were facing storage related issues.According to new terms and conditions business account cannot able to purchase additional storage via admin console or from google one. so most of customers migrating to other solutions. The only option is to upgrade to higher editions but it is not affordable to all companies.
Kindly advise how we can increase the storage in Starter edition (other than upgradation)
My suggestion: If not possible like standard and higher edition make Starter edition to pooled storage or else increase the per user cloud storage from 30GB to 50GB /100GB
Solved! Go to Solution.
It makes sense to pay for storage! Even Google in some ways pay for that!
But in this case you see licences cost is DOUBLED in a moment, and that's difficult for some small businesses.
The best solution to me would be enable pooled storage for Starter edition, so you give the chance to buy a single user license (62โฌ/year) to increare the storage.
In our case the storage is not enough for a small part of the accounts in a domain (10-15%), the rest of the users only use a few GB.
This is what Cloud software should be about! pay for what you really use
Thanks
I just found out about https://support.google.com/a/answer/12284220, which might address some of this, possibly.
Cheers,

Unfortunately, there is in fact no option to increase the storage space other than upgrading to a higher plan. Which in the end, amounts to the same outcome. You pay some money and get more storage.
This is crazy! please Google consider Pooled Storage for Google Workspace Starter, otherwise small business are in trouble doubling their license cost at once

Forgive the scepticism but I think that's exactly what Google wants: Google has changed ALL of its storage policies to ensure if you really want more storage you have to pay a lot for it.

I'd like to remind you that you can have mixed plans for your Google Workspace. Meaning some users with Starter and some others with Standard.
It has to be asked to your Google reseller or your Google sales contact.
Then you will be able to move some of your users only to the higher plan.
Partial domain (mixed) licensing requires a minimum number of users and a minimum % of users on the higher SKU (edition).
Furthermore, except in very rare and exceptional circumstances, I always caution organizations against partial domain (mixed) licensing as confusion will abound amongst the user base with regards to who has access to what features and capabilities, and who doesn't. This invariably breaks workflows, and makes some workflows impossible to implement organization-wide.
Nobody knows (except the admin)!
