Google Workspace - GMail account error login on Outlook (0800CCC92)

Hi everyone,  

since a few days 3 mails accounts from my domain ask the password for my login on Microsoft Outlook for desktops. This occurs on 2 differents PCs. The error code in Outlook is 0800CCC92 (authentication error). I think its not the PCs or Outlooks, because in the same client there are others accounts of the same domain working fine.  

Notice that I can login via web, and connect via IMAP the account, but not via POP configuration.

In Outlook I tested:

• Delete and re-create the account (pop)
• Create and change the .PST for the new account.

In Workspace I tested:

• change de password
• disable and enable again the POP in the source account 
• disable and enable again the less secure app in the source account.
  

...nothing works.

I tried to delete 1 of mail accounts from panel, and re-create the same account in the same domain, with the same password. Again, I turned on send/receive POP, and turned on less secure app. And..WORKS! fine from Outlook.

I tried with the second account, and works fine too!

But, I can`t do the same with the third account I can´t delete because have stored info on Gmail and GDrive. So, if delete the account, the info will be erased.

Im stuck with this third account, plese let me know if you have how to solve this.

Google recently discontinued the Less Secure Apps feature. See https://support.google.com/a/answer/9003945 for all the details and instructions for how to reconfigure Outlook to use OAuth instead.

Hi Ian,

after follow all instructions to activate the 2 steps autentication, and recreate the account on Outlook in order to activate the OAuth still bouncing the password.

Im sure that some hidden bug are on workspace accounts, but I don't know what. With other accounts simply were deleted and re-create it, and restart working again without changes on outlook. But in others account I have many info (mails, gdrive, photos, keep, and more). And the point is keep using POP configuration instead IMAP o MAPI, in order to store locally the mails.

You could try enabling 2-step verification and Creating an App password
