Having an issue updating dns settings in squarespace for a custom url i added in workspace

I am using Google sites and wanted to add a custom url and then workspace gave me instructions on updating cnames in Squarespace but squarespace does not allow me to edit cnames. Has anyone found out how to get around this

To update your CNAME records for your custom URL, you need to log in to your Google Workspace (or Google Domains) DNS management console and make the changes there, not in Squarespace.

Basically, Squarespace acts as the website host but is NOT managing your DNS. Google Workspace manages your domain’s DNS, so any CNAME or other DNS changes should be made in Google’s DNS settings. In Google Workspace DNS, add or update the CNAME as per Workspace instructions to connect your custom URL.

If you don’t see how to do this in Google Workspace, look for the DNS or Manage Domain section in your Google Admin Console or Google Domains, and there you can add/edit CNAME records.

Actually I was able to edit it in SquareSpace eventually. In Workspace, you can't add any cnames as the only thing you can do is add a custom domain/url but the rest is done in squarespace.
