Hi @yaakob,

You may not able to control navigation history specifically on Chrome, but you can restrict clearing browser history in Google Chrome.

  • Go to the Admin console.
  • Expand Devices > Chrome > Settings > User and browsers.
  • Look for the policy name "Clear browser history" and set it to "Do not allow clearing history in settings menu."

Hope this helps!

@SajithMohan @yaakob I believe that the KBs around this are very misleading and will not apply to users without ChromeOS (or possibly Chrome Enterprise).  You'll need to make sure those policies apply.  See this deployment guide: https://admin.google.com/ac/chrome/guides/ -KAM

hi KAM

I have the Chrome Enterprise Core license but i don't see the option in the politicies page...

@yaakob I believe this policy is what you need to look at: https://chromeenterprise.google/policies/#AllowDeletingBrowserHistory

It's likely that it says allow that is confusing since you are likely looking for deny.

Hi @yaakob@KAM

I just confirmed that the below steps are available in my Google Workspace Business Starter plan.

  • Log in to your Google Workspace administrator console.
  • Navigate to Devices > Chrome > Settings > User and browsers.
  • Search for the policy named "Clear browser history".
  • Set the policy to "Do not allow clearing history in settings menu".

Please feel free to let me know if you're still unable to follow the steps, and I will create a screenshare video for you.

Thanks!

@SajithMohan How is that setting going to do anything on your desktop, though if it's an unmanaged PC? -KAM

Hi @KAM,

As mention on the above post, this setting can only restrict users to clear history on Google Chrome.

Thanks!

@SajithMohan the big issue though is that to my knowledge that setting is part of the ChromeOS settings https://admin.google.com/ac/chrome/guides/ so I don't think it will do anything in the OPs case. -KAM

Oh, I see. Thanks @KAM.
