I cannot log into my gmail account

Hello,

A sad confusing state of affairs.

I have no idea what I am doing. Sorry if I am on the wrong page or asking this question in the wrong topic or to the wrong community. Forgive me.

I rec'd this notice from google:

Couldn't Sign you in

You’ve tried to sign in too many times. For your protection, you can’t sign in right now.
Try again later or sign in from a different device.

Since I have no other device from which to log in. Now what? I read some posts in the community on this topic. Many in fact. In one post, 220 people, in a very short time, said they were having the exact same problem. I assume in search of answers as well.  It wasn't long after this the reply button for that question was turned off. I stayed to read what folks had to say. The advice went from, obviously didn't read the question before they answered the post, to that cannot possibly be the only end result to such a problem.

The answer I read from the Google community volunteers and not an employee of Google; believe that, even though the message says 'try again later' and I wait and do, there is no specified time of what 'later' is in this great void of the abyss of all that encompasses 'later'. chuckle.

No matter the wait time, I still get the message, couldn't sign you in, try later.

Several posts indicated that if you are an unfortunate recipient of this curious message, those who are in the know, know, all must wait 7 full days, nearly 170 hours, before attempting to access your account. If you even try before the secret time limit is up, the 7 day clock starts again.

Before this message, during sign-in, I was sent the standard text message code. I responded and input the code into the little text box as expected and the agreed upon response by all parties....as always, I was promptly logged into my email account. No problem.

Monkey work. Boxes pop up. Fill in. Get a cookie. a sucessful log-in.

Heavy sigh. Is it true the only alternative is wait 7 full days to regain access, or once again, open a new google account and start over?

I can understand, google needs to police a wide range of situations but I didn't get a notice to please verify it's you, other than the standard, sent you a text message. Which was promptly input and accepted. Monkey work. You ask. I do. ........lol.......so where's my cookie?? 😄

I do understand the need of google's security position. I am unclear about the hidden time limit to get back into our accounts, if indeed this 7 day secret time limit is true.

Any advice is appreciated.

I am just try to sign in gmail account but not sign in

If you two are @ gmail.com users as opposed to Workspace, the best help community for help would be the Google Account recovery help community at https://support.google.com/accounts/community.

Of course, there is an ongoing post in the Google Cloud Community that does talk about the phone verification issues at https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Workspace-Q-A/Phone-number-cannot-be-used-for-verification/m.... That might give some ideas regarding specifically phone verification issues.

Gmail,   or is it called......?  Google Work Force ? Now

Either way  I put in password on my older account  and since I'd not sighned  in probley about aweek

My phone I think went for a ride on the top of my suv by mistake.  So it's what I primarily use for every Thing I do online.   So it took me about a week to get a new phone. I login wrong g password try  again or choose forgot password  I do Change my passwords around quite bit. Anyways  i hit the forgot p.w.  it prompts me with ENTER THE LAST P.W. YOU REMEMBER PUTTING IN.. and that's great that usually  works after about 2/3 trys.

But not now I'm balfed and tell the true FREAKING OUT I've had this Gmail account for like 15 yrs it's got my everything on in it HELP HELP PLEADING ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME I'M ITS GOING ON 6 MONYHS

I can't tell if you are Workspace or a Gmail (also known as personal) or non Gmail non Workspace account.

If Workspace, tell your admin and they should be able to assist you.

If personal so meaning gmail.com/googlemail.com and non Gmail non Workspace account (but is considered a Google Account), the correct help community would be https://support.google.com/accounts/community. I know that community has a pinned post about account recovery, which is https://support.google.com/accounts/thread/244324910/can-t-recover-my-gmail-account. Their help center has I believe at least two articles about how to get back into a Google Account including the articles of https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/7682439 and https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/7299973

It's ridiculous - I am the admin for my workspace account and I routinely cannot log in to my gmail or admin account on my mac. The status page just slowly creeps toward completion and then sits there, 99% complete, forever.  I can login instantly on my android phone, but on the computer - just a fail. No notification, no explanation, just a total FAILURE. The google customer support page is total psychological-warfare waste of time, going in circles with no actual support or assistance at all. I posted my situation to the official google community support site and the repetitive advice was, try another browser. (Google actually recommends not using Google Chrome - how idiotic is that?) I can sometimes log in with Opera, but not today. Safari? Nope. No way to log in to my email today - so what am I paying Google for?

It honestly does sound a lot more like an issue with your Mac rather than Google’s services. This may be repeating what you’ve already heard, but maybe try the following in order:

1) Clear browsing data for “all time” in Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2392709?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&oco=2

2) Uninstall all Chrome extensions: https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769 (see the Uninstall section near the bottom)

3) Restart the computer.

To do the same in Safari:

1) Clear all cache and cookies, for all time: https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/clear-your-browsing-history-sfri47acf5d6/mac

2) Uninstall all extensions: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102343#:~:text=deselect%20its%20checkbox.-,Uninstall%20extensions,an....

3) Restart the computer.

If none of that works, I’d recommend having a Mac specialist (an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Store) have a look at your Mac—something funkier is going on.

Hope that helps,

Ian
