Hello Google Community,
I'm encountering a confusing issue regarding the storage limits on my Google account and would appreciate any guidance or assistance.
Recently, I received an email notification stating that I have exceeded the shared storage limit for my account. The email mentioned a 60-day grace period, after which my account will be set to read-only mode on a specific date.
However, when I checked my account's storage status, it showed that I had used significantly less than my total available space. This information was inconsistent with the email. Adding to the confusion, the admin console displayed a different usage amount, indicating that I had exceeded a much lower storage limit.
I have a subscription for a significant amount of storage (over 200 GB) and the details in my account settings do not align with the warning email I received.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Is there a known problem with storage limit notifications or account settings not reflecting the correct storage amounts? How can I resolve this discrepancy and ensure my account reflects the correct storage capacity according to my subscription?
Thank you for any advice or solutions you can provide.
Best regards, A Concerned Google User named pascii
Hi @pascii ,
Hope you're doping well! Could you please let me know which is you Workspace subscription? How many users are in your organization?
Regards
I faced a storage space issue with my Google account. Despite receiving an email about exceeding the storage limit, my account showed different storage usage. Resolving this issue was time-consuming, taking about ~3 hours to find the necessary solution, moving files around, and requiring the use of a chat service. This experience highlighted a lack of good service design.
The Google Workspace Support clarified that extra storage bought via services like Google Play is not counted towards Google Workspace accounts anymore. They suggested changing my subscription or adding users to use pooled storage and provided guidance on adding more users to my account.
Furthermore, the suggestion by Google Workspace Support to add users to get more space was not clear to me. This approach would only incur more costs, especially considering that the storage price has increased by 400% in the past 4 years. This seems like a "Lockvogelangebot" (bait-and-switch tactic).
Additionally, setting up the refunding process for the 1 TB subscription was a horrible experience due to bad user experience (UX), leading me to eventually stop trying.
