Not a Sites expert however I do know Sites help center has an article about how to set up that custom domain so do ensure you read https://support.google.com/sites/answer/9068867?hl=en. And if no one answers you here, try their help community via https://support.google.com/sites/community?hl=en&help_center_link=[9068867,%22Use%20a%20custom%20dom....
Thank you for this info, Penelope. I see the instructions on how to customize my site domain, but do you know which page do I navigate to in order to complete the steps? I tried the admin page, the website, google drive, etc... but the settings do not offer the same steps in the instructions.
Respectfully, Carolyn
Hi Carolyn, I don't have a custom domain Site myself however I know the folks who would know are located at https://support.google.com/sites/thread/new (that is the community's new post link so you can post to the community). [The only article I know about in connection to domain URLs and linking a Google Sites when you are a Workspace user is https://knowledge.workspace.google.com/kb/how-to-map-a-google-site-to-a-domain-name-000006219.]
Hello!
To map a new URL to a site in Google Sites, you just need to follow this instructions:
Changes can take up to 24 hours but typically happen more quickly.
You can check the details in this documentation: https://support.google.com/a/answer/7392423?hl=en#:~:text=Step%202%3A%20Add%C2%A0a%20custom%20URL
NOTE: After access the Custom URL the page will redirect to the google site original page
Hope it helps.
"6. Select a verified domain.
Note: If youโre mapping from new Sites, only the domain hosting the site is available."
Does this mean that Google Sites only works with one custom domain per Workspace account? In other words, if I have my workspace account linked to domain example.com, I can only map websites built with Google Sites to that domain, example.com? I can't, for example, create a Google Site with a custom URL to example1.com, and another Google Site with a custom URL to example2.com?
@NorthwestJoe correct but it doesn't matter because you can simply redirect the other domain to the site the domain is on. To give an example our Google Site is on www.steegle.com, but it you go to www.steegle.co.uk you arrive at www.steegle.com
Why did you feel you particularly needed the same site to be at both domains? If it's for search engines then search engines will only index the same site at one domain.
If you want a completely separate site to be on the other domain is possible, you just need to make the site using an account that uses the other domain (e.g. temporarily renaming your account). Again as an example we use steegle.com as our domain but we also have steegle.one as a domain and have created and published a site at demo.steegle.one (this one intentionally redirects, and you will see it arrives at a site published using the steegle.one domain, but it didn't need to redirect if we didn't want it to).
