Need Help Enabling Recording in Google Meet

Hi - I am using the "Essentials" version of Google Workspace and I am attempting to enable meeting recording for Google Meet but am having difficulty.

According to the article at the following link, the Essentials version is eligible for meeting recording. https://support.google.com/google-workspace-individual/answer/9308681?hl=en#zippy=%2Crequirements-to...

I am following the instructions provided in the article linked below, but once I am in my Admin console under Google Workspace -> Google Meet -> Meet Video Settings there is no section for "Recording" as the article says there should be. I haven't been able to get any further than this. https://support.google.com/a/answer/7557052?sjid=14314855157589489115-NA

When I go to the Activities section while in a Google Meet, even from my admin account, there is no option for Recording.

Any guidance would be very appreciated!

Hello!
Are you using Essentials Starter, our free offering? If that's the case: you would need to upgrade to a paid version of Essentials to get the Meet recording feature (and a lot more): https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/7681288

... Advanced features for Google services, such as shared team drives and longer video meetings with 150 participants, recording, noise cancellation, polls, Q&A, breakout rooms, and attendance tracking...

Have you verified that Drive & Docs are enabled?

Yes, I have verified that they are enabled.

I currently have "Google Workspace Business Starter". I am not finding video meeting recording option.

I am not able to find it. What should I do?

You do not have the right edition per https://support.google.com/google-workspace-individual/answer/9308681?hl=en#zippy=%2Crequirements-to...

You can record video meetings with these Google Workspace editions:

  • Business Plus
  • Business Standard
  • Essentials
  • Education Plus. This is available to users with a "Staff" or "Student" license.
  • Enterprise Essentials
  • Enterprise Plus
  • Enterprise Standard
  • Enterprise Starter
  • Google One subscribers with 2 TB or more storage space
  • Teaching and Learning Upgrade. This is available to users with a โ€œTeaching and Learning Upgradeโ€ license.
  • Workspace Individual Subscriber

Hi,

I have a Google One subscription with 2TB storage space. For me also Google meet, recording option is greyed out. can you please help?

Hello, please note that the meeting recording will always be saved to the meeting organizer's Google Drive. This requires that the meeting organizer has an eligible configuration and subscription. If you are the meeting organizer, your Google One subscription should enable you to do this. If not, please reach out to Support.

Hello Fopitz,

Thank you very much for your response. I am the meeting organizer and the Google One subscriber with eligible configuration and subscription. Let me reach out to Support

I know fopitz is handling however if the option is greyed out do ensure you are in a "supported country" as well since a Google Meet Google product expert did inform me of that recently that it is possible to have the 2 TB storage but not have access to that. The list of supported countries is located at https://support.google.com/googleone/answer/12351029?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccountries-where-google-workspace... (so the list is going to be the same as the workspace premium countries as well).

Thank you, Penelope. Yes, indeed, that might be worth checking.

I was coming here to post exactly that. (I am likely the Meet Product Expert who mentioned that link to you.)

I have google for non-profits and everything says I should be able to record our meetings but I do not see this feature also. From everything I read I should be able to enable this feature.

What article is saying recording is available to non profit?

The main article on the subject has these editions listed: https://support.google.com/meet/answer/9308681?hl=en#zippy=%2Crequirements-to-record-a-video-meeting

You can record video meetings with these Google Workspace editions:

Business Plus

Business Standard

Essentials

Education Plus. This is available to users with a "Staff" or "Student" license.

Enterprise Essentials

Enterprise Plus

Enterprise Standard

Enterprise Starter

Google One subscribers with 2 TB or more storage space

Teaching and Learning Upgrade. This is available to users with a โ€œTeaching and Learning Upgradeโ€ license.

Workspace Individual Subscriber

Fwiw, I did also read the article at https://support.google.com/a/answer/7557052?hl=en and I don't see any mention of it saying it is available on workspace for non profits.
