New Bard extensions do not show up on my browser admin profile account

Hi,
I use Google Bard on a personal account and on my administrator account. Bard has just enabled the new extensions to work with Docs, Youtube and other google properties. I was able to  enable those extensions on my personal  account  but cannot enable it on my administra  or Bard account. I can use Bard on my administrator account, I just cannot enable it to use on my admin account.
This is a problem because if I want to use Bard to communicate with Docs or Youtube or Excel, etc., I cannot do so because, the admin and the personal are two separate accounts and Bard on the Admin account cannot get access to Docs, etc. from the personal account nor can the personal account communicate with the Admin account.
I have Business Standard and so I cannot connect with a Google agent. (Sad)
If you can help, would appreciate it. thanks

Same problem. Please help!

Hi,
For what it might be worth, I am beginning to believe that Google is not
yet offering the new Bard service to Business accounts. The reason I say
this is because I tried another Google personal account and the service was
available. If I am correct, it is a shame that Google has not mentioned
this on Bard business accounts. I have not seen it mentioned anywhere
online.

Yeap, ditto

Same. I wish Google would clarify.

I think I found the answer. One word: Duet.
Google has a Business product called Duet that appears to have similar/identical features. And, of course, there is a cost.  https://workspace.google.com/solutions/ai/
Hey, I have no issue with them monetizing their products and services. But, they should have figured out that there are some people who would logically wonder if they could use some or all of those features in a work environment.
I spent a tremendous amount of time trying to get information about this and only through luck and gut determination, i think this is the answer. One thing that bothers me a lot is the fact that unbeknownst to me, they have completely eliminated their Business Standard subscription help support desk, removing access to phone and email support. At most, all I could find was chat and that was only for sales, of course.

This is quite disappointing and just a good reason for me to end the Google service and stick with Microsoft 365 which does provide support by phone, mail and chat for the same level business subscribers.

We currently pay $12/user/month.  There is no way I could explain to our business that we should increase that by $30/user/month.

I tend to agree, but note that you can purchase Duet for as little as 1 user in your domain. You don't need to purchase it for everyone, just for the folks that have a real need/use for it.

Thanks. What I am doing temporarily is testing it in my personal account.
Bard is very useful for specific queries. I do like being able to integrate
it with certain Google properties. I moved some of my work content to my
personal account to test it. This is just an interim approach. Based upon
my review so far, which is still limited, I think Duet is really pricey
even for one business user. Also, I am waiting for Microsoft to roll out
their co-pilot which will help me decide which of the two I will favor and
possibly subscribe to Duet or co-pilot, but almost certainly not both.

@bayoubuzz just to make sure you're aware Bard and Duet AI are not similar in any way, so using Bard is not going to give you any indication of how Duet AI works.  Bard is a separate app whereas Duet AI is a set of extra features in products (none of which are of any use at the moment).

No, Duet is not the answer. In fact, Duet is basically useless. It has nothing to do with Bard.

I feel I have tried it all!

I spoke with Google Workspace support and spent over three hours on the phone. I had a video call with them, and I recorded my screen, and I provided screenshots. I can't get the answer on whether the Bard Extensions are working for business accounts or not. All my settings are charged to provide users access to all Early Access Apps and permissions. I confirm, that Bard Extensions are working on my private account, however, I don't need them there...

I also have a subscription for Duet AI.

The latest reply I have from the support is:
I can completely understand, As we have informed you earlier, BARD >> Extension issue is out of scope for Google Workspace Support. As we have no visibility to check the issue from our end as Google Bard is completely external.

Also, As a workaround please try to sign-in into the Google workspace labs and check if you can access the extensions in BARD. If not you can contact help from labs to check this issue at their end.

Workspace Labs : https://workspace.google.com/labs-sign-up/

Thanks for contacting Google Workspace Support.

The frustrating part is that Google support seems utterly unaware of the issue and can't provide any clear answer... I spent too many hours in a search for answers and solution....

Even i tried to reachout to google support as Bard extension is not available for our workspace, Initially they said we are releasing it in a phased manner it will reflect on your Bard homepage within a week or two. Now it has been over a month when I followed up on the same ticket they are saying now install Bard extension from chrome web store and later it will get reflected strange part is i could not find the official Bard extension on web store. Google is totally unclear about this

Bard Extensions are not available on Google Workspace accounts, see here

DuetAI is the enterprise offering for workspace customers

What an absolute crock.

I'm an individual with a pathological hatred of adverts, so I pay for Workspace. My Organisation has literally one User, me.

Duet is totally unaffordable for me, it would way more than double my monthly Google spend. Yet people who DON'T PAY can use Bard extensions, and I can't.

So, I'll say it again: what an absolute crock.

This coupled with Android 14's removal of the "long-icon-press-shows-notification-content" feature might just be the last straw. I'm sure google will be devastated to lose me.

I cancelled my Duet AI subscription, as it has no value for me. I wasn't refunded; I just credited the payment to my account.
I have to mention that after I cancelled DuetAI, I was still charged for it. I had to contact support to process the cancellation.

@bdge if this makes any difference for you Duet-AI will offer a "Sidebar" which is much closer to Bard and the Extensions.  Google have a publicly available video on it:

This video is two months old and demonstrates the sidebar, but it's still not available to all yet.

@KevinApodaca how is the rollout going for Duet-AI sidebar?  Any update?

The DuetAI Side Panel is releasing to our DuetAI customers early next year, there are some small subset of customers that will be testing it sooner, if they were a part of our Labs program.

For folks following this thread I want to be absolutely clear that Bard is a consumer product offering, it has consumer terms and consumer use cases in mind, these are not the same for Enterprise use cases.

The two are meant to fill two completely different markets. If you are a Google user with a consumer account (gmail for example) you can go use Bard right now just by logging in.

DuetAI is a suite of tools available as a paid add-on for Google Workspace customers and your account manager can help clarify the differences between the two.

The short version is that Bard is not a free version of DuetAI, and DuetAI is not a paid version of Bard. Two separate products with separate markets/personas/use cases/roadmaps/strategies etc

Thank you for your reply.

The problem I have is that I'm very far from an Enterprise customer, I'm basically a consumer who hates adverts so pays for gmail.

Obviously I can use a consumer gmail account to try the Bard Workspace integration, but it won't search any of my paid-for account's emails or documents, so what's the point?

And I can't use Duet because I can't afford it.

@KevinApodaca

When I chose to sign up for the service promoted for families in 2006 or 2007 (Google Apps for Your Domain it may have been called then) it was advertised as a personal account.

Manu years later on May 17, 2022, Google announced they would offer "G Suite legacy free edition" accounts the option to self-identify they are using these accounts for non-business use.

When I clicked the box to keep my free account it made me agree to this: "By clicking the button below, you are confirming that you use Google Workspace for personal use."

Many times over the years I have asserted this is a personal account and google has used the phrasing that it is a personal account not an Enterprise account yet I am hamstrung by this distinction all the time.

I would love for my account to be disassociated of all enterprise capabilities and become a TRUE personal account but this is not offered.  I would lose over 15 years of data that doesn't have a migration path. Things like my Google Maps history which allows me to see where that restaurant was when I took my wife to Paris.

Sure google offers tools for me to export that data but there is no IMPORT ability to put it into Google Maps associated to a gmail account.

I also hope that Bard's extensions will be implemented in Google Work Space for Education soon.
I would like to hear your request as soon as possible.
But I'll wait patiently. Thank you for starting the topic.

@古井雅也 as written very well by @KevinApodaca above, I would not expect Bard extensions for Workspace to ever exist.  Bard is a consumer product.  -KAM

Well contrary to previous posts from @KAM and @KevinApodaca Google has made a U-turn here

Google has just announced a brand new update that gives you the old Bard chat interface, rebranded as Gemini and uses Gemini Advanced if you pay for Duet-AI (also renamed to Gemini Enterprise). We pay for Duet-AI/Gemini Enterprise or our Workspace and we appear to have the updated Bard/Gemini but this still does not offer Extensions.

See New ways to chat with Gemini, with added enterprise-grade data protections

Digging into the Gemini help centre reveals:

This is only good news as far as I'm concerned as Bard/Gemini was always better than "Help me write": and with extensions this will make it extremely powerful.
