Opening VCF file in google contacts

We have a user who receives VCF files via e-mail from new contacts. Currently the process we have in place is to download the file, go to contacts.google.com and use the import function.

The type of process I'm looking for is to simply double click on the attached VCF file within the e-mail (Gmail) and for it open directly in contacts to be imported. Is this possible?

regards,

Divyesh

damn have this EXACT question and need.....sadly NO solution suggested.  I want to 'associate' google / gmail contacts with the .VCF file extension but no easy way to do this or instructions for it!!  Google Contacts is a crappy solution or CRM even compared to always poor Outlook....but Google is worse and even more poorly supported......this is just one example.  A multiple step workflow saving files, downloading, then file searching and importing etc etc.  What a mess instead of double clicking the attachment and sucking it right into the contacts pages!!!!

How you do it  have no idea to start with

To open the VCF file in Google Contacts, follow these steps:

Open Google contacts.
Click on the Import option from the left-hand side.
Click on the Select File option from the Pop-up then tap on the Import button.
Next, select the CSV or vCard file option.
Upload your VCF files and click on Finish.

If you are still confused about opening these files in Google apps then you can try out BitRecover vCard viewer  to open this file without the help of any other app.

What a PIA?

Or you can just launch it in Outlook and it imports right in???

Crazy how cryptic and complicated Mailto: and also vCard application
launching for gmail and Google calendar and contacts is???

Yeah STILL NO solution from the Google Gmail, Contacts, Calendar team.     Its about 20 clicks and step down a rathole to pull in a single click on EVERY OTHER email, or CRM product.

Contacts is a horrible product as well.   So crude and unfriendly.  And that compared to Outlook which is pretty bad even after 30 plus years, but its "Good Enough"   I have over 5,800 contacts and Google Contacts is just not up to the task.
