Read Receipts in Google Group chats and Google Rooms

I have searched to identify a setting to turn on Read Notification on for Google Group Chats and Google Rooms, but unable to locate.  Does anyone know if this feature exists or only limited to 1:1 conversations in Google Chat?  

Trying to consolidate multiple chats platforms from other vendors to Google to streamline the work flow for some organizations. This is the feature needed to move everyone to Google.

Anyone know when this will happen? It is proving difficult for group projects and workspaces when you have no idea who has seen messages. This was an extremely useful feature in hangouts. Why they forced the switch to google chat before having this feature present has made me wonder if we need to find another platform.

Was checking back after almost an year, and still waiting for an ETA.  @CalebSpring had my hopes up last year, but now, not holding my breath.  This would be a great benefit to everyone - would help project managements as others have addressed.

I just answered this exact question moments ago here. Most of the features in the screenshot have already been delivered (the most recent, just weeks ago), so I remain hopeful that read indicators are on their way.

This is exactly what I want, but as of 2023 still no read receipts for spaces.
