Hello Google Workspace Community Members! Many of you may already be aware, but for those of you who aren't, below are two great resources for updates on all things Google Workspace.

  1. The Google Workspace Updates Blog
  2. Google Workspace Release Calendar

The blog provides essential information about releases and improvements to products. The calendar has dates around new updates, releases and training resources for Google Workspace users.

Check them out!

I've subscribed to the Google Workspace Release Calendar for years.

Recently, I've noticed the all-day events it places on my calendar are categorized as busy not free.

Of course, it makes no sense for these events to be set as busy, blocking off time on subscribers' calendars.

I noticed this today as I someone was saying I'm busy all day (even though I wasn't). Subsequent investigation revealed the release calendar event blocking off my time.

Of course, I can't change it, because it's not my calendar.

Are these events intentionally being set to busy, and if so why?

Adding in the Workspace launch team - any insight here?

Thanks for responding, Willie!

Subsequent investigation revealed it wasn't the subscribed release calendar (something else) that was obstructing my availability - perhaps there's no issue with them being marked busy, after all. 😜

One idea for future launches:

It'd be great if editions supported by a particular launch were in some standardized format in each post (instead of a comma-separated list in a paragraph).

For example, a table listing all editions, from Enterprise Plus to free consumer accounts, with ✔️ to indicate which editions are supported, and ✖️or blank for those that aren't.

This would provide ultimate clarity over which editions are supported, whereas the current comma-separated list leaves questions like "what about G Suite Basic? What about consumer accounts?"

Now that we have many more editions of Google Workspace in the portfolio, there's even more grey area between Google Workspace (all encompassing, including Individual and free consumer accounts) and Google Workspace (the business/enterprise editions) and a greater need for clarity.

What do you think?
