Sending voice message Google Chat

I would like to know if google is going to include option to record the voice and send it for chat.

Threadit from Area120 (Google R&D) is going to be integrated into Chat!

Google voice is a different product and it has nothing to do with this request.

Anyone who uses groups to chat like slack, whatsapp, telegram or whatever knows that in a group conversation you can't just talk part of the conversation in another app. The complete thread needs to be in the same place. So if part of the group can only do voice at that moment, you just need to switch to a world class application like any messaging app excepts google chat.

That is now how Workspace is designed.  Google is all about integration of services, and not recreating the same component for each individual service.

I'm not defending Google's business and development decisions here, but like others I'm simply informing about how it works.  Google Voice is another service and it's integrated into Chat. This is what's provided now.  Soon, another service, Threadit, will be integrated into Chat as well, providing other audio/video components.

when? there is still no option for voice messaging (not phone calls) in google chat

So how do you send an audio message with Google Voice inside Google Chat ?

From your message it seems you suggest is possible, if that is true I didn't know that.

I really think the google product team is not understanding both of the mentioned requests.

We are not all working on the same places anymore and also we dont want to write all our messages. Further we DONT WANT TO RECORD A VIDEO but just simply send a voice message to a google chat or google space from desktop and specially also from mobile. Videos will require much more space compared to audio recordings i guess, so how can you say thats the way to go for such request?!

 

+ Also Google Voice would not solve that issue. I dont need to use MS Teams telephonie to record audio messages and in slack i am even not able to integration my telephonie. So bringing in the discussion of google voice does also not make sense, because i dont want to leave an voicemessage on someones phone number, i want to send them a voice message in a chat or space.

If you are submitting a feature idea, be sure to explain the problem that you're trying to solve with the feature idea, not just the idea itself. For example, saying "when my users are trying to do 'A', they often get confused by the fact that the buttons to do 'X' and to do 'Y' look quite similar to each other, which leads to this unintended consequence" is far more likely to get fixed than a feature idea that just says "change the color of the button 'Y'".

Hi Ian, thanks for letting me know. I already tried multiple times to join the Ideas hub, but actually always receive the following error:
