Split Text to columns

Hi All

I wonder if you could help with a query that we are facing. We have a binary file that previously staff members were able to open in notepad and then copy the data to Excel. They were then able to format it so that it was usable in Excel.

We have tried to do this in Google sheets by opening the document in Text editor and pasting it into Google Sheets, but the formatting doesn't seem to come out the same.  This is how we would like it to come out when we do a fixed text to column This was done on the Excel application

This is how the same data looks in Google Sheets

Instead of copying and pasting, have you tried importing function of sheets? It gives you more control in terms of delimiter, etc.

Hi

Thank you. This also did not work

I wonder if you would let us see the original binary file?  I can tell from your google sheet screen shot that the headings across the top of the sheet are all in one cell.  There doesn't seem to be any recognisable delimiter of columns to split by.

I would be happy to take the original binary file and take a look at it to see if I could workout a method to split it like you have in excel.

But you also have the capability to just copy and paste out of the excel sheet into the google sheet as well of course!

Hi Scott

Thank you. The issue is that the team that needs to do this do not have
access to Excel. We are trying to get them to do this with Google Sheets.
I have attached the binary file below. Any help would be most
appreciated. Thank you.

Ahhh, I don't see the file.  Don't see how to attach either...

Perhaps you could share the binary as Public, Anyone with the link, and then put the link as a reply?  I'll download it and take a look.
