Wondering when will the ability for U18's to insert youtube videos be restored to Google Slides. The is a very important feature needed for classroom projects and assessments.
Youtube videos can no longer be inserted into a Google Slide due to the age-based restrictions. Please find a way to filter these videos so that this feature can be readded.
This is a huge issue as students are needing to insert videos into Slides constantly!
Please fix this Google.
Prior to the 18+ restrictions, students were able to insert YouTube videos in their Google Slides presentations. Students are still able to access YouTube and search / view videos allowed under our restricted settings, but now lack the ability to insert these videos in their presentations. It is important for this feature to be restored to the previous functionality.
Agreed..... Following this thread for when/if Google makes a change for this.
I haven't seen any word when but last month it was said "soon" which could literally mean whenever (or it seems at times): https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/thread/127952692/google-classroom-students-can-t-insert-you...
Make sure to also submit feedback within the products as well about what this functionality back.
Just to confirm that https://support.google.com/a/answer/10651918?hl=en#zippy=%2Cyoutube does say: Also, users in primary and secondary institutions who are under the age of 18 canโt:
(Google does not make any promises in that article that they will undo these actions.)
We Need this also- so teachers can assign Youtube videos to students.
Why can't <18 users in my organization who have YouTube enabled, embed YouTube videos in Slides/Forms/Sites?
Staff is set to "Can approve videos". They are able to embed a YouTube video.
The option "Insert=>Video=>from URL" is removed from Slides even if the Video is approved for any YouTube restriction setting less than Unrestricted in Google Admin Console YouTube restriction settings.
I totally agree
It's for a safety measure meaning Google is trying to get better at restricting services to minors (under age 18).
Some resources for you (which the topic may not be touched upon specifically but the below articles do help explain some of the overall changes):

Yes, we understand the safety measures that were put into place and for good reason. Unfortunately, the option "Insert=>Video=>from URL" is removed from Slides before attempting to add any Youtube video, age-based appropriate or not.
Hey joliver, I was just realizing yesterday or two days ago that some things were not lining up so I am taking proactive steps to ask for clarifying questions concerning this and thank you for reiterating about the insert->video->from URL is missing from Slides for you.
Thanks for the links to the articles, unfortunately it is still a feature that the is badly needed in schools, for projects etc. Allowing students to only upload teacher approved content defeats the purpose of students doing the research and presenting topics.
I have since read the real issue here is the mature content filter from Youtube does not work when uploading through Slides and Forms. The real issue is, it would appear, that Google need to find a way to implement the content filter for Youtube to Google Slides and Forms. The ability to insert videos from search is most definitely needed in Education Workspace u18 accounts and a way to restore this feature needs to be found
Hi johnnyf53, I just wanted to say I am working on finding out more information about inserting YouTube videos into Slides (and even about the embedding videos issue). One user in this community was saying the 'insert-video-from URL' inside Google Slides was missing in their domain (which is what you are also saying) even though students could not embed videos but staff members could.
