being able to get calendar alerts on iphone even when it is on silent

one big problem i have is that i use iphone with google calendar 

i could get the alerts from apple calendar even when the phone is on silent but i cannot do it using google calendar 

i would like not to have to switch applications for my calendar 

but it is starting to be a big problem for me since i often keep my iphone on silent (not even vibrate) and i miss meetings because i may lose track of time
