hi , we have 190 users , basic plan (with 30 GB per account ) , now issue is that google has stopped to upgrade individual storage
My question is
1. If my organization overall storage is 3.2TB/5.7 TB , can i assign this free storage to whom who require more then 30 GB , option is there .
If no
Can I partly upgrade my users whom require more then 30 GB (5 out of 190)
2. if earlier purchase storage is expired , how many days users will not effected (for incoming and out going mail)
Solved! Go to Solution.
For Google Workspace Starter you are limited to 30 GB of Storage per user and this is not pooled. If you upgrade your licencing to Business standard or Business plus, the the storage is treated as pooled storage for the whole domain.
For example, Workspace Business Starter, fives you 2 TB pooled storage per user. so 10 people would equate to 20 TB of storage for the domain shared across your 10 users.
Another advantage of upgrading from Business starter is that you get Shared drive which is a must for any organisation trying to manage their data in Drive. There are other advantages as well.

Hi Chris , thanks for your reply if i partly upgrade licensing then it will work
for example : in my domain 190 Ids if i upgrade 10 Ids licensing , then can i use free space of upgraded users to basic(30 GB user) licensing users.
Mixed licencing is allowed, though your have to have a certain percentage on the higher SKU. This would need to be arranged via your reseller, or not with a reseller direct with Google.
Not sure if your plan for pooled storage would work across the Workspace starter SKU's or just those with the higher SKU.
I always caution organizations against partial domain (mixed) licensing as confusion will abound amongst the user base with regards to who has access to what features and capabilities, and who doesn't. This invariably breaks workflows, and makes some workflows impossible to implement organization-wide.
Nobody knows (except the admin)!
It is possible to have a Google Workspace with mixed Starter / Standard plans.
This allows you to minimize the costs of obtaining additional storage space.
If you have users with 1Tb extensions (99€ / year), it is even cheaper to switch them to the Standard plan.
Mixed plans are to be asked to your Google Workspace reseller or to your Google sales representative if you buy your solution directly from Google.
Hi Oliver,
Thank you for the insight as this might be the solution to our problem. Our company has a Google workspace and recently our CEO has ran out of storage and would like to upgrade only his account and not all of ours. is upgrading as simple as talking to a google sales representative? We have tried reaching out to Google customer support but to no avail.
thank you and I hope you have a great day!
Hi!
We are currently running on a business starter plan.
Thank you for the response!
Sorry to read that.
The fact is I am a Google reseller and I have about 30 customers with active mixed plans (Starter & Standard).
The right email to send your request to is (PII removed by staff).
You must have more than 5 licenses to have Google accepting your request.
Maybe you are right.
I contacted sales and hopefully they are flexible and able to upgrade only one account. If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between getting a plan with google directly from getting a plan with a reseller
Prices are the same but, il you are working with a reseller, a smal part of the license price goes to the reseller.
It's interresting to work with a reseller as he is a nearer contact than Google. He has a major field experience and he is able to guide you an to give recommandations regarding Google Workspace apps usages. A reseller is a GW expert working with you. Of course their expertise is not for free but it saves you alot of time.
I got a reply from SMB but I'm not sure if they understood my request. They created a PDL with 1 user but we already have an existing workspace. I am lost here. If I click on the checkout will it automatically bill the existing card for $12 per user per month? We currently have 8 users and that seems ungodly expensive if they upgrade the entire workspace.
Any help would be appreciated
I think this is exactly what you are looking for.
After you accept the offer, you will have the opportunity to increase the number of users for the Starter plan or for the Standard plan.
And you will be able to move your users between your plans.
Thank you Oliver!
So to be clear I will have the option to upgrade only one user from the next screen and it will cost $12 per user?
Google Workspace Business Standard : 12 $ / user / month
Google Workspace Business Starter : 6 $ / user / month
Watch out, flexible plan prices are changing around April 11.

You are such a great help Oliver!
Thank you and I really appreciate the help.
on last thing though, if we currently have 8 users at $48 per month, would the additional cost be +$12 or +$6 to upgrade only one person?
Hi,
I might have an issue, Does this make a separate for one person? I think this might not be the solution we are looking for if it is. I do apologize if I'm asking a lot of questions.
Thank you!
You have to assing users now. Asign user to Business Standard or Business Starter.
Go to User management.
Tick the user and assign Standard license.
Please upgrade the selective users (in need of additional storage) to Business Standard / Business Plus as needed.
