How to interpret numbers in recaptcha before migrating

Hello, we recieved an email saying that we will need to change the recaptcha and create a google cloud project for it to keep working. The email said that in the last 3 months my recaptcha average 327 assesments, but when I go to the recaptcha admin page I see 98,000 requests for the last 90 days.

How does the pricing work for this? Does it charge when you reach X amount of requests or X amount of assesments? In this case assesments and requests are the same? If not what's the difference?

Kind regards,

Hi @totemsupport:

Not sure why the disparity between the email and the number of requests you're seeing in the Admin Console. Perhaps you have multiple keys under the same account? In any case here's a few summary points on how pricing works, but you can review details here:

  1. Assessments and Requests are the same thing in this context.
  2. The counter will reset at the beginning of each month. Your first 10K assessments will be free. On your 10,0001st assessment you will see a $8 charge on the Billing Account associated with your Google Cloud Project. There will be no more charges until you hit your 100,001st assessment; it's a $1 per 1,000 assessments from that point on in a given month. And at the end of the month an invoice will be generated for payment.

Hope that helps!

Hello Kwaku, when we create the cloud proyect and all that, how can we know if the recaptycha is working fine and it will keep working when 2025 ends? Is there any way to confirm this?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Once you have the project set up and the key(s) migrated you will be able to see the configuration status on the details page for each key. There will be a warning if we detect an issue with your key setup.67xjstw7HVJzNcB.png

Hello Kwaku, we currently have the google workspace business starter plan, do we need to upgrade our plan or will we have to pay aditional cost to be able to create the recaptcha google cloud proyect?

Because current,y it says something about get 300$ credit

Please could you confirm this?

We'd like to keep using the recaptcha from google but not if that implies upgrading or paying just to get google cloud to be able to create the proyect

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi @totemsupport:

You won't need to make any changes to your Workspace Business Starter plan in order to use reCAPTCHA. The two are not related.

You can get started with reCAPTCHA on GCP at no cost, along the lines of the pricing details I shared earlier. Once you've created your project I would recommend adding a GCP Billing Account to it so your account goes through our security checks and gains access to the latest reCAPTCHA features.

Gekki Kwaku, we just did the migration and the recaptcha has been moved to the google cloud project.

As far as I'm concern the statistics will start appearing in the google cloud project page instead of the "old" admin recaptcha page? Also if I'd want to add a new domain to the repatcha key where should I add it?

Also I see this:

It says "No protection" or "Without protection"

Is there something missing from my configuration?

I followed this guide: https://cloud.google.com/recaptcha/docs/migrate-recaptcha?hl=es-419#google-cloud-console_1

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello again, looks like that is working, however I have the following doubt now.

The "real" number of assesments its what is displayed here and I should not be looking at the "old" admin recaptcha page?:

I won't be charged until this number goes above 10k correct? Then it will be 8$ that month from 10k until 100k, is this correct?

Thanks a lot for your help!
