AppSheet scheduled maintenance window - Sunday, May 19th, 12pm PDT (7pm UTC)

Hello everyone,

AppSheet will be conducting service maintenance starting Sunday May 19th, 2024 at 12PM (7pm UTC) and completing no later than 4pm PDT (11pm UTC).   AppSheet Applications will remain usable for signed in users during this period of time, but the ability to edit applications and log in will be intermittently unavailable during the maintenance period.

This is the first maintenance window since May 2023 and is required to improve AppSheetโ€™s experience and reliability. We do apologize for any inconvenience!

We will be updating you on the status live in this thread.

Thanks,

Adam & the AppSheet Team

I hope it is for the best

thanks.

I really hope that APPSHEET improves our usability experience in the application. We have many complaints, where in the middle of processes, the app closes by itself, etc. And many of my users are complaining about it!
I spent 3 years programming in APPSHEET and today our Organization uses an important system developed in APPSHEET that constantly presents instabilities and delays in synchronization.

The best thing that APPSHEET could do was solve the problem of synchronization delays for large applications with large tables, expanding the capacity to support many data tables!

I trusted 3 years of hard work in your brand! And now I'm embarrassed as a developer in front of my users!

Here is my disgust with GOOGLE in this aspect!

Hi,

What type of apps you are working?
Just a question to explore the diversity of appsheet and have some problems to discuss.

We have a CRM Application for Management of the Members of a Non-Profit Entity and finances.

Same here

Concordo pienamente!!

Ho gli stessi problemi anch'io, piรน di 4000 pagine in PDF di programma... ogni giorno ce n'รจ una.... apri un ticket e se va bene ti rispondono: "ci dispiace", soluzioni da parte loro, mai avute!!

I trust Google, so I recently used Appsheet to build software for us.
I feel like a rat in a lab.
I also feel that performance will be greatly hindered when there is too much data.
Hopefully the Google team will step up with more manual support and improve performance quickly before I decide to put the software into real use.

Hi Adam, thanks for the info. Is this maintenance going to add any new functionality? any new features? or is it just going to improve the way the platform works?

hope it can be more AI user friendly

Thanks for the heads up! Appreciate it!

Buenos dรญas,

Esperemos pueda mejorar la velocidad en la sincronizaciรณn y evitar que se cierre la aplicaciรณn sola.

Saludos,

Thanks for the heads up, Adam!

There's a protype app which I use without signing into my account. If I understand correctly, during maintenance I would be able to use that app, but I would not be able to edit the app configuration?

Or is it the other way, in which I would have to enable signing-in before the maintenance window so that I can use it?

Will this maintenance fix this errors? I do not use REST APIs and I get these errors. I believe this has to do with Appsheet connection to GSheets. I get complaints from users because of data loss. Repeatedly every week. Customer service is NO help at all.

Thank You for informing us

En lo personal App Sheet me parece excelente, espero que el nuevo mantenimiento no cambie mucho la interfaz.

I hope the sync issue is resolved. Perhaps because of the two years of accumulated data, the updated data causes too many synchronization errors, making it very difficult to work.

@Adam_Stevens , could you explain how it will affect users in a public app, where they have appsheet app installed (but in most cases, not logged in)? Will users in this case be able to use the app during this maintenance period? thanks

Hi, are you going to add support for using headers and footers in googledocs templates?

@luisandres you made me laugh...

@Mike_Procopio hope your voice can perhaps get this feature going...Headers and footers in Google docs....

Our clients ask us how in 2024 we can't do this, AI is existent and they don't accept our answers or excuses any more, some clients have waited long and we got a flat no to this request. It does not help us when bringing the appsheet platform to clients to use but the basic need for reporting to have page numbers, or pagination is forgotten. PLEASE HELP

I had to at least try!, Hope is the last thing you lose

Dear @luisandres

 Could I suggest an alternative?

You could learn to work with HTML

 See a little about it...

https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/AppSheet-Q-A/It-seems-to-me-that-Appsheet-has-no-solution-fo...

Hi Adefe!, thank you for the suggestion. It's my intention to learn HTML, as it seems to be the way to achieve a more professional look for my reports. However, I am currently short of time, and I need to roll out the apps I am developing.

In the meantime, I am using tables in the templates to replace the header, but I couldn't resolve the issue of adding page numbers. It was surprising and disappointing to encounter this issue, considering all that I had in mind, especially with this platform that claims to be a no-coding solution.

Nevertheless, I find AppSheet wonderful; I am organizing my work in a way I didn't imagine I could, without the need to learn coding.
Anyway... as John said, 'Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.'

If you could give me some ideas on how to add page numbers to my Google Docs templates, I would appreciate it.

@lizlynch @Mike_Procopio HTML is an option yes, but it is coming from a developers perspective or  enthusiasts breaking barriers where the platform possibly lacks, I ask Google Appsheet team, why would one create a platform for anyone to use make it citizen friendly, add AI to do the basic confusing database work for new new users and then find HTML knowledge is required as the only option to simply add a page number to a document template..

The rest of us whom understand platforms and some sort of coding for more advanced systems, it makes sense to go that route, but I feel bad for the rest of general people for whom this platform was catered for.

Are you fixing whatever problem just arose with the desktop mode? For the previous 8 month since crating my app and having it IN PRODUCTION with the desktop mode, it just now started to not work. Well, that is extremely frustrating as for the previous 8 months it ran without problems. What did you all do to it, and will this be fixed this this round of maintenance, or will I not be able to use my app like I did for the first almost year of use?
