Hi everyone,
โAn image is worth a thousand words.โ For that reason, images can be invaluable for conveying information. However, simply capturing a picture is sometimes not enough, especially in processes that require proof or documentation via images and where clearly relaying information is important. You need to guide the viewerโs attention to specific and important details.
Weโre excited to introduce to General Availability new tools to do just that, highlight and annotate images on Android devices. Now, your users can add precise highlights and markings to images, making visual communication clearer and more effective:
Hereโs what this all looks like:
These highlights and markings could be useful in the following cases:
You can set this up in your apps very quickly as follows:

This new feature has been in private preview for the last few months. Many thanks to the community members who opted in to try it early, gave us good feedback, and helped us make this feature better.
What is the experience for non-Android users?
Browsers and iOS users will continue to use the existing free-form drawing tool.
Are there any plans for other platforms like iOS?
We are hoping to get improved tools on iOS as well, but have no timeline to share at this moment. There are no current plans for desktop.
I just bought an Ipad, and am looking for this feature on IOS soon.
Appsheet now's the only thing urging me to switch to Android device...
Hi @Fabian_Weller,
You're right! we thought we have fixed this during private preview but the fix we reverted by mistake.
Retake should show up in the localizing list early next week. Thanks for reporting this!
Very nice !
Is this considered "Generally Available" for all Android devices or is it still a Preview feature only?
Yes, it is now out of the preview program and generally available on Android devices
Could you update the post to clearly indicate it is a generally available feature? For others future reference.
Since we have had a number of pre-announcements on Preview items over the past couple of years it's not clear when an announcement is made if it's for something in preview or general availability!
Good point, I've updated the post.
Nice feature...... I've gone and enabled it on all my [inspection] apps - now waiting for the Apple users to start grumbling ๐
I'm that Apple user and I'm having inspection apps too T.T
