Alternating table row colors in workflow email template

Is there any way to get a workflow email template to display alternative background colors for every other row in a table generated by a Start expression?

I have a table with a Start expression, so the Start expression is generating a row per record, which means there is only one row in the template. I can’t format alternating colors onto a single row.

I’m afraid there is no workaround for that.
