Error icon for reference?

What does the error icon mean?

I’m sure it has something to do with my references but exactly what is wrong? Just having an exclamation point is not very helpful.

Does the icon always appear when references are broken? I have a parent-child relationship and not all of the rows have references. This is by design.

That’s a bad design.

Consider changing the column type from Ref to Text, since it seems you don’t intend to use the values as references.
